The Carolina Mudcats
For starters, an apology to those who were following my other little works. I somehow managed to corrupt my memory card and can't get a thing to load. But, rather than just disappear, I got a new memory card and have an idea that may or may not appeal to any of you but I'll toss it out there and if there is interest and sign-ups, we'll do it!
I'm going to run a MLB 08 The Show Chise with myself as the manager of the Carolina Mudcats, the AA club affiliated with the Florida Marlins. Now, all I need are players. Daniel Barone and Ross Wolf are unedittable namewise but all other postions are open. So, if you wanna play for the Mudcats, sign up now. It's first come, first serve. Just reply with your name and position. SP: Daniel Barone SP: SP: SP: SP: RP: Ross Wolf RP: RP: RP: RP: RP: CP: C: Jonathon Gonzalez C: C: 1B: 2B: 3B: SS: Zach Myers SS: LF: LF: CF: Josh Woodson CF: CF: Note, there are no players who are primary at right field though, obviousy, one of the left or center fielders will play in right. Also, when you sign up, scouting reports will be given of your player, which will be similar to the ones I will post for Barone and Wolf. Last edited by vrobx1 : 06-01-2008 at 06:29 PM. |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
Name: Daniel Barone
Position: Starting Pitcher Height: 6'2" Weight: 185 pounds Bat: Right Throw: Right Age: 24 Salary: 310,000 Overall: C Velocity: F Stamina: B Control: F Fielding: D Potential: C A notch below average, he may yet have his moments. May. His heater often leaves the bat faster than it reaches the plate. Provides solid innings without tiring out. He must think walks are good for pitchers. Solidly below average glove, keeps the official scorer busy. He'd be happy with a career as a #4 starter. Name: Ross Wolf Position: Relief Pitcher Height: 6'0" Weight: 180 pounds Bat: Right Throw: Right Age: 25 Salary: 136,393 Overall: D Velocity: C Stamina: F Control: C Fielding: B Potential: C More than a little below average. Mop-up work recommended. Hitters will be waiting for his fastball. Gets fatigued very early, and often. Needs to find the strike zone more often. Steady glove, perhaps a bit better. Not a bad reliever, but a dime a dozen talent. |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
Name: Josh Woodson
Postion: Center Field Secondary Positions: Right Field, Left Field Height: 6'2" Weight: 205 pounds Bats: Switch Throws: Right Age: 23 Salary: 125,901 Overall: D Contact: F Power: F Fielding: F Speed: F Potential: C He won't break any hitting records. Needs to improve contact if he wants to make it in the show. If he goes yard more than half dozen times, be thankful. Awful with the leather. A routine play is never routine with him. Speed is sub-par. Steal attempts are rare. Talent is good, but frustrates managers with lack of consistency. |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
Name: Zach Myers
Position: Shortstop Secondary Positions: Second Base, Third Base Height: 6' 0" Weight: 199 pound Bats: Right Throws: Right (wouldn't let me change it to left) Age: 19 Salary: 120,000 Overall: D Contact: F Power: D Fielding: F Speed: D Potential: C Sub-standard hitter. Good games are uncommon. Consistently hits for a low BA. A dozen or so dingers are possible. Awful with the leather. A routine play is never routine with him. Not known for his speed. Occasionally brilliant, but plagued by inconsistency. (Note: I'm playing AA so all players will sound really but, remember, the opposition will be just as bad. I may make a reward system to boost attributes a bit if one is named player of the game or some such. Can't get everyone's stats to suddenly jump real high or AA ball will be way too easy for us.) |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
It's all good. You are playing other AA teams?
As long as I get better, I'm fine __________________ ![]() Done with dynasties/franchises until Christmas |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
Right. We'll be playing such powerhouses as the Mobile Baybears and the Montgomery Biscuits.
I'm going to try and write it in a style similar to John Feinstein's Next Man Up. Which is a fantastic read for people who would love to get a good inside perspective on what an NFL season is like. |

Re: The Carolina Mudcats
Name: Jonathon Gonzalez
Position: Catcher Height: 6'2" Weight: 212 pounds Bats: Right Throws: Right Age: 20 Salary: 122,927 Overall: D Contact: F Power: F Fielding: F Speed: D Potential: B He won't break any hitting records. A friend to pitchers both good and bad with his frequent whiffing. Can barely reach the fences, let alone clear them. It's hard to say what's worse, his glove or his arm. Does not exactly fly around the bases. Loaded with potential, could be a star. |
