How Kahne Would've Been the 2006 Champion
Let's see. The 2006 had many surprises, but none other than seeing Kasey Kahne lead the series in wins with 6. After a superb rookie season, Kahne notched his first win and nearly a second at INDY but missed the chase, and had 9 dnfs. In 2006, he started great in the first third of the season with 2 wins and no lower than 11th, no higher than 2nd in points, then in the middle, he would unseat JJ at Charlote, win at Michigan, and ran poorly at the road courses and at Talle and Daytona. that hurt him the most, as well as the crash at indy. tough rebound but after the solid run at bristol and michigan 2, he wins at Cali, and gets 3rd at richmond and makes the chase. now, if only he didnt have those bad luck races at atl, tex, and kansas, he could have won the chase. he swept charlotte away from JJ, not just then but for years to come. throw in the crash at dover and kahne wouldve been... yes thats rite, yours truly, Kasey Kahne. but oh well.. time to move on and next yr will be his.
