Jeff Gordon & Jimmie Johnson failed pre-race inspection at Sonoma and will not be allowed to practice or qualify on Friday.

It will be interesting to see what penalties result from this. If they follow the precendent set w/ Junior earlier at Darlington, it will be 100 driver pts, 100 owner pts & a 6 race suspension for Letarte & Knaus. NASCAR was very clear that this was a COT violation & thus the penalty will be severe. In my opinion Knaus should be suspended 8- 10 races. This is at least his 3rd violation for breaking the rules in the last 2 years (Dover in '05 & Daytona in '06). I believe NASCAR should drop the hammer on his head to let him know this will not be tolerated.

Penalties are what I expected & believe are fair. Hopefully this will get the message across that NASCAR isn't f-in' around w/ these new cars (can't call them COTs anymore

).
