Re: "Overcoming the Adversity" The story of the New Orleans Hornets

November 1, 2006
New Orleans Hornets (0-1) @ Boston Celtics (1-0)
Heartbreaker in Boston
Hornets lose on last second miss

Rashard Lewis dunks over two Hornet players as he lead his team to victory (left), Tayshaun Prince helped the Hornets stay in the game with 23 points and what was almost a game-winning dunk for the Hornets (right)

Boston, MA(AP)--Devastation. Heartbreaking. Painful. Three words that can describe not only the state of the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, but that can also describe the Hornets' first game of the season against the Celtics in Boston.

It was a back and forth game all night. The Celtics led for the majority of the first half, but in the second half, the Hornets were in control. But "in control" doesn't really describe what was going on in this game. The largest deficite either team faced all game was 9 points. And the difference in points between the two teams when that final horn blew? One point.

The Hornets led the Celtics by 6 points with just under 4 minutes to play in the final quarter of regulation. But the Celtics came back and the two teams continued exghanging baskets, each taking a 1 point lead every time. Then with 17 seconds to go in the 4th quarter, the Hornets' Tayshaun Prince got the one-handed dunk to tie the game 80-80, and drew the foul. Prince hit the foul shot to secure the 3-point play, and give the Hornets a 1 point lead. But this wasn't too much of a problem for the Celtics, as they ran the clock down to 3.7 seconds before bouncing it inside to Dwyane Wade who tossed the ball into the basket to give the Celtics a 1 point lead as the Hornets called a timeout. With just a few seconds on the clock, Steve Nash shot for 3, but the attempt was missed, as well as the pile of Hornets in the paint trying for the second-chance basket, as the Hornets lose on their first game by 1 point.

The Hornets travel to Indiana for their next game where they'll take on the 0-1 Indiana Pacers.

: 19-24-17-21-0-81

Celtics' Player of the Game

Yeah me too. Surprisingly, this loss didn't hurt that bad. Starting Pacers game now. Thanks for reading.

You don't have to go all out in your recaps if your gonna play all those regular season games.

Good luck in your chise.

Honestly, I like to write them. But I think I'm gonna stop this one and start one with my Heat. I tried to do one with a team that isn't my team, but I'm not sure if I can. Not sure yet though.
