a lil help on offense any1?
I have a lot of toruble scoring...also when i go up for dunks and layups they seem to always make the shot harder than it has to and miss or sometimes they dont even dunk they stop and shoot it. Do i have to hold square or can i tap it and what about turbo?

what system is this on? If you are doing layups or dunks just use the shot stick instead. Its easier. if you have a 360 and play online let me know, we can get some practice in and i can show you how to run some offense.

Re: a lil help on offense any1?
Yeah, I'll extend that offer to you as well -- hit me up if you're on 360. Send me a friend request to Stumbleweed85.
But yeah, use the shot stick for everything but jumpers (my opinion at least) and always hold the R Trigger (or whatever button is the aggressive modifier/turbo) if you want to go for a strong move. Running some set plays is a good way to get guys better looks at jumpers. I normally run on Auto playcalling -- it helps a lot to have guys moving around without the ball, which normally only happens when you're running plays. Even if you don't know how to run the play the the CPU calls for you, it still can be beneficial to call it because guys are moving around, setting screens, etc. Go into practice also to make sure you're releasing at the right time. Different guys have different releases, so if you play with one team most of the time, go to practice mode and shoot shoot shoot until it's second nature for all the guys on that team. That'll help your shots go down a lot more often. Knowing your personnel is key also -- which is why picking unfamiliar teams online can often result in a loss. It's helpful if you know the matchups you can exploit (whether based on height or actual abilities such as shooting/blocking) based on your lineups. I don't advocate any of that 'switch your SF to PG' crap that was suggested in the SG 2K7 tips section (because it's stupid and against the spirit of the game, even if it does work), but a guy like Tayshaun Prince is a great asset to have when trying to cover a shooter like T-Mac or Kobe because he can get a hand up whenever they shoot. Hopefully some of that helps. And as I said, I'd be happy to lab with you on this game, as I need more practice running my offensive sets with the Nuggets against a real opponent. Let me know. __________________ ![]() Thanks to REVO for the sig! |

Re: a lil help on offense any1?
I run with the lakers 247.. and man is it hard for me to win..lol.. i always get out rebounded by about 50-20.. and my inside game comes and goes with the tides while the cpu goes on these runs where they seem unstopable for a long period of time.. i mean just last nite the pc wen on a 15-4 run and totally took me out of the game i dont kno what happend.. im not too sure why this game is so highly sought out consdiering how unfair the game is
off-line.. i often run the triangle offense pretty good and still get waxed from missed wide open jumpers while im all over the pc's guy defensively and a scrub like kittle lights up the scene.. any help or tips on how to get rid of these horrid games where i lead for a while and then out of the blue every one on my team misses shots and dunks while the pc runs away with the game ?... |

Re: a lil help on offense any1?
Turn off Clutch Factor -- that help to make those runs a little less dramatic, I think. Also, let the computer defend the ball-handler if you keep getting shot over -- it has better reaction time than you do (in general) and tends to body up the ball-handler pretty well. Don't use the defensive stance (L Trigger) to defend jumpers either, because it makes you lower and less able to react in time. I try to use the raised-hand stance (away from b/h on R Stick) because it rarely draws fouls and tends to a decent job of challenging the shot.
But in general, I just leave the ball-handler to the CPU if I'm playing against a good shooting team, because it's too hard to time the blocks/challenges right and you end up getting a lot of fouls or just mis-timing the jump and giving up position. I spend most of my time on defense playing help-side with my big men or playing the passing lanes (or doubling) with my frontcourt. I do play on-ball defense more often when I'm playing online though, since it seems a bit cheap to let the much better CPU defender take care of the human ball-handler... maybe that's just me though. If your release is good (look at your VIP) and your guys are constantly missing shots (if your team is shooting less than 50% all the time and the other team is shooting more consistently), you might want to adjust the shot success sliders a bit. I haven't personally had a problem with this (I've been playing on Superstar with basically default sliders), but I always adjust the rebounding sliders due to big discrepancies in final numbers. I bump the human sliders up to 65 for both offensive and defensive rebounding and it works well. __________________ ![]() Thanks to REVO for the sig! |
