Re: NBA 2k9 Features

Can't wait to see how the Adaptive A.I. plays out. Hopefully they don't make the lead pass as good when they cut to the basket. IMO the lead pass ruined 2k8. It was wayyyy too effective.

They had no chance but to copy on the OTP front. Excited to see which game is better, it was 2K last year, but I don't know.

Yeah just like how EA took it from CRB. Looks like 2k is going to make a more "polished" game. Can't wait!

One thing I'm tired of is FEATURES FEATURES FEATURES *cough* EA *cough*.

added some screens from E3.

Player models look a lot better, more realistic than the previous 2 games.

Re: NBA 2k9 Features

2k9 is the best basketball game but the gameplay still has work to do to feel like playing real basketball.

The main thing I would like to see adjusted is dribble penetration. The lockdown defence is a good idea from last year, but it is too good. It is difficult for the quickest point guards to get past the slowest bigs like shaq when they guard them on the perimeter when playing the cpu. Just not right. When I try to stay in front of someone myself it is very difficult and the other person will ahve an easy time beating me off the dribble, but when the cpu is guarding, they are near impossible to beat off the dribble unless you enter one of those behind the back dribble moves to change direction. The the nba, players are always beat off the dribble, only defenders like artest or bowen are able to stay in front of their guy as well as every player in 2k8 does, and then help defence is relied on to still create difficult shots. Im not saying you should be able to beat your guy off the dribble every time but it should not be as difficult as it is. What it does is it makes offence more stagnant. If I can beat my man off the dribble, then the defence will be forced to move and rotate, which allows me to pass the ball to teamates which dont have their guy glued to them because they are helping. This creates more dynamic offence, and would allow me to play more of a real style instead of having to rely soo much on the cheap passes you can make in the game, and only being able to get open shots through sprinting after a basket or passing out of a double team.

Another gameplay adjustment: Too many times when you make a pass, the player you are passing to moves backwards catching it, in a set animation, rather than catching it in stride. This ruins layup opportunities that should be there and is frustrating

One more: I think everyone hates the layup animation where the player dips his body in and throws the ball up from the side, because many times it should be an open dunk when they do it, but instead a defender just comes and blocks it because of how slow it is. That animation should only happen when trying to shield the ball from someone on the other side. The other really annoying animation is the one where the offensive player just leans forward putting up a weak layup attempt and the defender just has their arm there in front of it and its a block everytime, often people that dont block shots getting blocks with this animation on people they shouldnt be blocking.

Those are the main gameplay flaws i feel need adjustment to make the game better and more real. I think there are so many cheesers online because it is difficult to score without being cheap, and that is because it is so difficult to beat people off the dribble. Although some people are just cheap lol.

One feature id like to see is technical and flagrant fouls in the game, two aspects always a part of nba games that have yet to be seen in games.

Re: NBA 2k9 Features

^^^ Excellent post, I agree, and I think that would make the game near perfect.
