Official NBA 2k7 Impressions thread
Figure with this coming out in the next day or so we'll keep all impressions in one thread. This thread could be useful for those who are on the fence about Live or 2k7.
BTW, when you post your impressions dont forget to let us know if this is current-gen or next gen __________________ ![]() |

Re: Official NBA 2k7 Impressions thread
Here are my first impressions
-right off the bat its changed from the last year and i notice it when i pop in the game. I hear the african bambaataa zulu nation song and there is like this image that you are going through a city and on two of the buldings is the selection screen for teams to get started in a quick game. -Tons of Sliders, i mean tons. I havent adjusted any yet but this game seems like its going to be customizable. I'd like to see how well this plays out the box first before tweaking anything -online lobbies same as last year. -created my league and after i put in the general info like settings and such it takes me to a game sliders screen to adjust all this for league. freaking nice. The sliders for this the same as they are offline. I just checked and you always go back and adjust these settings/sliders later so if you find something isnt right in your league you can adjust them. -navigation around the game is alot like Madden in that you use the right stick for everything and its all about menus popping up. its taking me a while to get used to this -went heat @ bulls first game. presentation is very nice in this game even though it doesnt have any type of ESPN license. a lot of cool stuff to start off. -now instead of just A, B, X, and Y as plays to set you can use the LT, LB, RT, and RB as well so now its 8 plays instead of 4 like last year. -guys actually fight for position down low, its pretty cool seeing them bump bodies and calling for it. -because of the guys are bringing up the floor its pretty hard to just pass full court and score it seems. game speed isn't too bad out the box. -the game has a feel as if you are at the game, like during TOs guys just walk to the bench and i saw Benny the Bull giving it to the refs as they stand there, something he does all the time at games. -player models are like they were last year. I dont really care for a lot of the player faces and they look nothing like their real life counter parts. They still have a rubbery look to them. -there are so many damn camera views its not even funny. One that was pretty cool mainly for watching and playing was the "coaches view" which is the bench view that a coach would see. im sticking with the default for now since its pretty good. -i think i'll have to lower the dunk slider a bit, ben gordon dunks like a mad man in this game. i dunked on shaq -can't just use the pass icons and pass across court or something. guys will steal it. this was easy to do last year -pick n roll isn't as effective as it was last year. it was too easy last year to just call pick n roll all game and score. it wont work this year. -this online the fly subbing makes everything pretty convenient, also i like how you can call plays, adjust pressure, tempo etc... using this as well -there is a 2k halftime report thats slightly different than last year but the presentation is a hell of a lot better with Kenny's report. its like a cartoon stamp of him its pretty cool. __________________ ![]() |

about to hop online and play russel. i joined the room and saw that it keeps the 2k rating you had last year as well, so if you had some good feedback last year then it stuck with you.

Re: Official NBA 2k7 Impressions thread
wsa sorting through teams something that i didnt know was in the game was that you can play as draft class teams they go as far as 2000 and stop at 2004 pretty cool. the 2003 draft class was rated 100 overall, 2000 was a 61 overall. I dont even remember who was in that class.

Re: Official NBA 2k7 Impressions thread
bummer that it still doesnt show the scores when you look at someones gamer info. I like to follow along with the scores when people I know are playing.

Also fred not sure if you mentioned this, but by holding different combinations you can control different types of passes. If you hold Left trigger and an icon or just hit that and the pass button you do a bounce pass. If you hold right anolog it is a fancy pass.

Re: Official NBA 2k7 Impressions thread
so I dont have my copy yet, heres something that I've been mulling over...
how complicated are the controls? I mean I look at what you can do, and I think to myself that theres no way I'll ever do some of these things. If I cant do them unconsciously after a while, theres no point to them. |

Most of the controls you get used to in a week or so. It just takes a little while to get adjusted. They got so many types, and one is just like Live.
