The Warriors: Making Golden State Respectable

Well, I am having a bit of fun with my football chises but wanted to try this one out. I've never done an NBA one before so this might be a total disaster. But I went with my same method of choosing a team, picking the one with the lowest overall team score. Boston and Golden State had the same score and seeing as how dominant Boston was in real life, I decided to take the Warrios and see what I could do with them.

Head Coach: Don Nelson
Arena: ORACLE Arena
2006-1007 Record: 42-40
Cap Room: $3.25M

STARTING LINEUP
C - A. Biedrins
PF - Al Harrington
SF - Stephen Jackson
SG - Monta Ellis
PG - Baron Davis

BENCH
C - A. Foyle
PG - S. Josikevicius
C - Patrick O'Bryant

2007 NBA DRAFT

WARRIORS TEAM NEEDS

1. Starting point guard is below average
2. They don't have a lot of speed in general.
3. Offensive rebounding needs improvement.

ESPN'S MOCK DRAFT PICKS

#18: C - J. Smith (Colorado State)
#36: C - S. Howes (Washington)
#46: SG - G. Roper (Boise State)

WARRIORS DRAFT PICKS

#18: SG - J. Ward. Needs to work on his shooting. Indecisive passer at times. Runs the court well. Grade: F.
#36: PF - J. Wagner. Barely gets off the floor when he jumps. Able to play a lot of minutes. Shaq-like from the free throw line. Grade: C.
#46: SF - B. Powell. Very bad shooting mechanics. Needs better timing on offensive boards. Lacks foot speed getting out in transition. Grade: F.

STAFF HIRINGS

I was given a budget of #3.41M in order to hire an assistant head coach, an assistant, a scout and a trainer.
I had one guy apply for a job. Kamil Nowaz applied for the job of assistant head coach. I checked over his information and saw that he had a grade of D and no specialty so I decided not to hire him.
The first guy I did hire was Brohim Simou as our scout. His specialty is North America. His overall grade is A-, with a C- for offense but an A+ in both defense and athletics. I gave him a 2 year contract with an annual salary of $686K.
My second hire was Carlos Mentero as the team's trainer. His grade was A+ with no specialty. He signed a 3 year contract with an annual salary of $702K.
The third man hired was Jessie Hayes as an assistant. His grade was A- overall with a B for offense, B- for defense and an A+ in athletics. His specialty is rebounding, a team weakness. He signed a 3 year contract with a salary of $929K.
Finally, I hired Jamal Akil to be our assistant head coach. Jamal's grade was a B and he has no specialty. His grades were B- in Rumors, A+ in Development and C in Leadership. He signed a 1 year contract for $1.08M.
