It's because in the story mode, you're supposed to be trying to put your hometown streetcourt on the map. I read about that a while ago on easportsbig.com or somewhere.

Anyway, I've seen pics similar to this before, and this may seem picky, but can someone please explain to me why EA had them wear their home jerseys w/ their away shorts and vice versa?!?!?! That just seem's pretty f-ing stupid to me.
