[360] - Recruiting Points
I'm posting this for all the people about to start their Dynasty, and may not know how recruiting works. If you have played NCAA Football in the past (which this year's recruiting is based on) you know that your points reallocate each week.
In short, you would target several recruits, spend all of your points researching them, and then repeat the same process week after week. This doesn't seem to be the case in this year's March Madness. The amount of recruiting points you choose at the beginning of the year seems to be your total for the entire recruiting period. At the beginning the game lets you target around 20-30 recruits, and then prompts you to research them. DO NOT choose more than the basic options with every recruit, meaning only highlight the "internet research" box the first week until you are sure they like your school, or else you will blow all your points for the entire season during the first week. This is what happened to me. I assumed (which is mostly my fault) that I would receive 279 points each week, like in other sports games, but in actuality, I only had 279 for the whole year. I was 5 weeks into my Dynasty, 5-0, and had spent a lot of time looking at potential recruits before I found this out. Now I'm starting over. I'm not bashing EA Canada for this, because I know it is my fault for assuming it was like most other college sports games, but just wanted to let everyone know so maybe they can save themselves time and trouble. Also, If anyone is further into the season and their recruiting points did in fact replenish, please let me know. I only played a couple weeks after they ran out into my Dynasty, so if you know differently please speak up. It would be good to know ![]() Thanks, and enjoy the game. |

Re: Recruiting Points
I usually have two seperate ones; UK, and then a smaller school. I haven't' chosen the smaller school yet, but for my serious Dynasty my heart won't let me use anyone else other than the Cats

Re: Recruiting Points
Damn it EA..screw you. I have only 1 point left and I'm almost certain Randolph Morris will go pro (Junior) at the end of the year. This seriously sucks. I at least want to try an persuade him to stay, but not with my 1 measly point.
These things would be good to know before we start our dynasty EA ![]() Thanks for sharing this btw...keep up the good work. Hopefully we can save some poor soul a couple months of his life. |

Re: Recruiting Points
Here is an update on how recruiting works.
I simulated the rest of my season so that I could finally see how it works, and what happens at the end of the year if you have already used up all of your points. Here is how it works. 1) Before the season begins you're asked to target 20-30 recruits, and have only a select amount of points to pursue them with. It is important not to go after too many players here. Spreading your points too thin will hurt your chances to land anybody. Key; narrow your list down to around 5 recruits after a week or two, and then go after them hard. Targeting many more than that will cause you to run out of points, and you might not be able to land any of them. The good news is that this first batch of kids is just to fulfill your coaching duties, and make the alumni happy. Don't feel bad if you miss out on these kids. You will be able to recruit in the off-season, even if you use all of your points. *If you suspect one of your star players will go pro early, save around 50 points to be safe. Randolph Morris went pro on me after his junior year, and I only had 1 point left to convince him to stay. A head coach visit will cost you around 40 points, so be prepared.* 2) I received an additional 765 points to recruit with in the off-season, and there where TONS of recruits still available. Lots of 4,5, and 6 stars. This was quite a relief. Important; if you end up giving a scholarship to a player you don't want anymore, you can take it away in the off-season. This is perfect if you find a player you like better at the end of the year. I hope this helps anybody who has any questions. Also, didn't mean to repeat anything the above poster said, or steal his findings, just wanted to cover all the aspects. Thanks, Last edited by CatfanHobbs : 12-20-2007 at 04:46 PM. Reason: mistake |
