Classic Teams in 08 name thread
I'll be researching the Classic teams in March Madness 08 and putting the names in this thread as I complete each team.
I'm totally shocked EA included over 70+ teams...... Anyway's this is what I enjoy playing with old school players and hopefully by the time the game is out I'll have a great deal of information posted in this thread to help you guy's come up with accurate rosters for MM 08 Now, if they could just do this NCAA 09 and that way I won't have to create my own rosters anymore.... ![]() __________________ Playmakers Sliders Updated as of 10/29/08 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nc...9-sliders.htmlNCAA 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/pl...playbooks.htmlNBA Live 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nb...9-sliders.htmlNBA 2K9 Currently working on Large Historic Roster File for NCAA Football 09 |

However, several of the team's players had technically graduated during the 1954 season and were prohibited from tournament play. Despite the wishes of the players, Rupp refused to allow the team to play in the tournament, thus leading to the team's reputation as one of the best teams ever to fail to win an NCAA title. Rupp's Runts: The 1966 team, with no starter taller than 6'5" (1.96 m), was arguably the most beloved in UK history. Despite its lack of size, it used devastating defensive pressure and a fast-paced offense to take a 27-1 record and top national ranking into the NCAA final against Texas Western. However, the Miners would deny Rupp another title. For more details on the game, see the articles for Rupp and the Miners' coach, Don Haskins. Future NBA coach Pat Riley was a starter on this team. The Unforgettables: This refers to the 1992 team—more specifically, to the team's four seniors, Richie Farmer, Deron Feldhaus, John Pelphrey, and Sean Woods. During their senior year, after a two-year absence from postseason play due to NCAA probation, they led the Cats to a deep run in the NCAA tournament, losing 104-103 in the East Regional final to Duke in an overtime game often called the greatest game in NCAA basketball history. The Untouchables: The 1996 team was arguably the most talented team in college basketball history, with nine players who would eventually play in the NBA: Derek Anderson Tony Delk Walter McCarty Ron Mercer Nazr Mohammed Mark Pope Jeff Sheppard Wayne Turner Antoine Walker --------------------------------------------------------------- YouTube - 1998 Final Four Hightlight Video: Utah and North Carolina. Re: Classic Teams in 08 name thread
I found this at Team Xbox, Classic teams is really why I'm getting this years version. Pretty good read if your fan of old school basketball like myself.
Game Rankings - External Link Even if EA’s Canadian development house didn’t change a thing for NCAA 08 March Madness’ gameplay, this one would be a hit. Why? Classic teams. This is exactly what the dev team needed to do to give the franchise some legs, and of course they went BIG as EA usually does with all things involving licensing. There are no less than seventy classic teams in NCAA 08 March Madness, which means if your alma mater was ever a hoop powerhouse, it will be represented in this iteration. Imagine playing with Lew Alcindor and the ’68 Bruins. Or bringing Jordan off of the bench to nail the outside jumper for the ’82 Tar Heels. Maybe Laettner and his fairy-tale season of 1992 for the Blue Devils is more your speed? We could really go on-and-on with the various scenarios that can now be created with NCAA 08 March Madness’s classic teams, and simply how great an opportunity this is to relive the past in a college sports title. The fact of the matter is that former collegians may not care less about the current crop of players or season (since most of the talent goes directly to the NBA now anyways), but it’s easy to relate to NCAA b-ball lore, including the athletes and teams that have made the Big Dance what it is today. EACA even went so far as using players from these classic teams in order to create an “ultimate” squad for a bunch of D1 powerhouses. Iverson and Ewing on the same team? Can you say inside/outside dominance? We knew you could (Forget Mr. Robisnon’s neighborhood; this is Ewing’s block, and he hates you in his paint). Being able to play as Shaq in his late-80’s LSU days is great, but EACA knew it would need to implement new gameplay features in order to take full advantage of the beefed-up rosters in NCAA 08 March Madness. __________________ Playmakers Sliders Updated as of 10/29/08 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nc...9-sliders.htmlNCAA 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/pl...playbooks.htmlNBA Live 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nb...9-sliders.htmlNBA 2K9 Currently working on Large Historic Roster File for NCAA Football 09 Last edited by Playmakers : 11-10-2008 at 02:01 AM. |

Re: Classic Teams in 08 name thread
I was told they speeded up the game play from the demo version, not sure how it resolves problem though as i didn't even test play the demo. So, I'm hoping the game is atleast an improvement over MM 07 because i felt last years version was a solid game not great but it was pretty good with sliders.
This years game for me personally is all about the Classic teams.... Once I saw the squads that were assembled I was shocked EA put in the time to add those teams. That's mainly where all my player/roster file work will be done in MM 08......I love the old school uniforms EA included on those teams (Short-Shorts, T-Shorts, old school sneakers) Afro's on guy's like Magic and David Thompson... ![]() __________________ Playmakers Sliders Updated as of 10/29/08 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nc...9-sliders.htmlNCAA 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/pl...playbooks.htmlNBA Live 09 http://www.sportsgamer.com/forums/nb...9-sliders.htmlNBA 2K9 Currently working on Large Historic Roster File for NCAA Football 09 |
