okay so here's the deal.
i might be able to get an update for this later tonight, but if i don't, don't expect one for a while.
i'm leaving at 3 am for hilton head, south carolina, for vacation, and i'll be there for a week.
so leave feedback and stuff for when i get back, i'll be able to check from my cell phone, but i won't be able to post in anyone else's dynasties.

Opening Night

“YO CHANCE!”

“Yeah Mike?”

“You ready to kick a** tonight?”

“Hell, I’m always ready. And you know what else I’m ready for?”

“What’s that?”

“To win f****** State.”

Tonight was opening night, and we play a cupcake in Kent City. I plan on only playing a half, so I better get my stats early. There were some questions going through my mind though. With the right type of season, will some school take a chance to offer me a scholarship as a quarterback? Can we win a State championship? And why weren’t my parents here?

“Chance, snap out of it, we’re leaving the lockerroom.”

It’s go time.

“Here’s the snap, and Kennedy is running the option. He fakes the pitch and makes a juke and is off to the races. 50, 40, 30, no one’s going to catch him! TOUCHDOWN VENTURES, KENNEDY SCORES FROM 87 YARDS OUT!”

That’s how the game went. During that touchdown I started to talk smack with the safety trying to catch me.

“You’re gonna have to run faster than that if you wanna catch me motherf******! I’m f****** All-State and what are you?”

“Gonna kick you’re a** Kennedy!”

“Catch me first b****!”

“Personal foul, taunting, #15 offense.”

I laughed and looked at the scoreboard. It was still the first half and we were up by 40. That’s why Coach didn’t b**** me out.

Fast forward to the end of the game and we won 55-7. I was going to celebrate when I was suddenly pulled away…

STATS: 243 passing yards, 5 TD, 1 INT, 221 rushing yards, 3 TD

Life Changing News

I looked who pulled me away and it was just my Uncle Gene, who was our special teams coach. I figured he wanted to congratulate me on my performance tonight, but that wasn’t the case…

“Chance, someone wants to talk to you.”

I took the phone and answered…

“Hello?”

“Hello, this is Doctor John Williams from the Ann Arbor Hospital.”

“Yes, what can I do for you Doc?”

“Well Chance, I believe we have some bad news.”

How does he have bad news for me? I’ve never been to Ann Arbor… oh s*** that’s right. My parents went up there for a business trip for my dad. Maybe my mother had something wrong because of her diabetes, I started worrying when…

“I’m afraid your father has been diagnosed with lung cancer.”

Wow, that hit me hard. My dad’s had no health problems and he doesn’t smoke either. He’s the person I am closest to in my life and I can not lose him. I dropped the phone and started crying…

i wasn't satisified with the blog updates, i wanted to add more storyline to this.
there's a 85% chance that i will be able to update this tomorrow sometime, i have senior pictures and work, so i could update in between or during the night.

What the f*** Chance?

At school, I’m always the talkative type. However the entire week, I don’t think I said anything. People were asking what was wrong, but I didn’t say anything about my father. I’m a loud one in the lockerroom too, singing every song on my iPod. Tonight was different, no intensity from me, no singing, nothing. Mike saw something wrong and came up to me…

“Hey, you aight Chance?”

“What? Oh yeah, yeah I’m fine Mike. Just a little… nervous, that’s all.”

“Yeah me too, East Jackson’s good, but we can beat these b******.”

“Yeah hopefully.”

The first offensive series for us set the tone for the game.

“Kennedy drops to pass. He looks and fires… IT’S PICKED OFF BY A EAST JACKSON LINEBACKER! HE’S TO THE 50, THE 40...”

I unbuckled my chin strap and jogged off the field while the play was going on.

“… THE 30, 20, 10, TOUCHDOWN EAST JACKSON!”

The next drive didn’t fare much better.

“Kennedy takes the snap and it’s the option. He goes to pitch the ball… IT’S BEHIND THE RUNNINGBACK! The linebacker will pick it up and run it back for another touchdown!”

“What the f*** Chance?”

After it was all said and done, we lost 10-34. As soon as we got into the lockerroom, no one spoke to me, not even Mike. I just sat in the lockerroom with my eyes staring at my muddy cleats.
