Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Week 11 Preview

Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-6)

VERSUS

Michigan Wolverines (5-4)

Rivlary Game
Battle for the Little Brown Jug

Preview- Minnesota should have a looooongggg game. Almost as long as a real football game. They rank almost last in everything in the Big Ten. 10th in Total Offense, 8th in Pass Yards, and dead last in Rushing Yards. On defense they are not much better. They rank last in Total Yards given up, 8th in Pass Yards given up and Rushing Yards given up. They are dead last in Points Allowed with 36.5 a game. Thats 114th in the NCAA out of 120 teams. What does that tell you? It tells me that Michigan should blow right past Minnesota. QB #15 will be completeing passes left and right, Brandon Minor will be going off, Greg Matthews will add to his NCAA leadings recieving yards, and their defense will cause problems all game.

Lee's Pick- Michigan
Kirk's Pick- Michigan

Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Week 11 Recap

Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-6)

VERSUS

Michigan Wolverines (5-4)

Despite Late Comeback, Michigan Survives a Scare

1st Half Recap- The first half was all Michigan.....literally. UM shut out Minnesota in the first half. It started with Matthews adding to his great season by catching a 15 yard TD pass to give Michigan the early lead. K.C. Lopata added to his hot streak by knocking down a 41 yarder to give Michigan a 10 point lead. QB #15 threw another TD pass this time to Toney Clemons from 3 yards out. Minnesota could have scored in the first half but turnovers killed them. 4 of them in the first half. K.C. Lopata added 3 more before the half was over to make the score 20-0 going into the second half.

Matthews scores his ..th TD of the year by way of this 15 yarder

This is one of 4 turnovers the Golden Gophers had in the first half

Adam Weber gets popped in this pic and coughs the ball up

This was probanly the only bright spot for Minnesota in the first half. A diving catch

Key Halftime Stats:

1st Downs: 12----3
Total Offense: 213----100
Pass Yards: 146----52
Turnovers: 2----4

QB #15- 9-15 146 yds. 2 TD 2 INT
Brandon Minor- 22 car. 67 yds.
MLB #47- 3 tkl (1 TFL) INT FF FR
Morgan Trent- 4 tkl

Adam Weber- 7-11 52 yds. 2 INT
CB #7- 4 tkl (1 TFL)
Raymond Henderson- 3 tkl (1 TFL)
MLB #44/Garrett Brown- 3 tkl (2 TFL) each

2nd Half Recap- This is where things get a little scary for Michigan. Minnesota opened with a bang by Adam Weber scampering in for 14 yards and a TD. Joel Monroe added 3 to cut UM's lead to 10 by a 31 yard FG. Jay Thomas broke free and made it 17 unanswered with a 23 yard TD run. Now it's 20-17. QB #15 and Matthews met again for 11 yards to give Michigan a 10 point lead again. K.C. Lopata added some insurance with his 2nd consecutive 3-FG game. But Minnesota, after coming back from 20 down, didn't give up. They marched right down field and Adam Weber hooked up with Tray Herndon to end the game at 30-24. Not the biggest victory in which Michigan would of liked, but they rebounded.

Matthews TD catch was a difficult one. After catching it he got a horse collar but still held on

Brandon Harrison picks off Adam Weber and has a nice return to add to it

This was a blocked Field Goal but I can't remember when it happened

Key Game Stats:

Rushes-Yards: 41-86----19-111
Turnovers: 2----5
Total Yards: 366----516

QB #15- 13-20 217 yds. 3 TD 2 INT
Brandon Minor- 36 car. 109 yds.
Greg Matthews- 5 rec. 88 yds. 2 TD
MLB #47- 6 tkl. (1 TFL) INT FF FR
Morgan Trent- 6 tkl.

CB #7- 8 tkl. (2 TFL)
MLB #44- 6 tkl. (3 TFL)

Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Week 12 Preview

#21 Nortwestern Wildcats (9-1)

VERSUS

Michigan Wolverines (6-4)

Preview- If I could pick any team that needs a win this week it's Michigan. I haven't even looked at any other teams circumstances but I'm pretty sure that this is the biggest game of the season for Michigan. They come in ranked __. Their Conference Record isn't too good at 3-2. They need this win to move up into the ranks for a better Bowl Game they're scheduled to have right now. Northwestern is coming off a brutal loss to Ohio St. and moved down 2 spots in the Top 25 to #21. They are a run more style of team and that's why they are 3rd in the Big Ten in rushing yards. They are 9th in Passing. On defense they have trouble stopping the run. They have given up 1208 yards in 10 games. That's about 120 a game. But in stopping the pass they are ranked 5th with 2207 yards. About 220 a game. That's not bad but Matthews is dead set on making this a long game for the Wildcats
"We need this game more than them. We want this game more than them. I'm sure we're gonna get this game."
Overall, look for the Matchup of the Game to be Michigans' Run Defense and Tyrell Sutton. Brandon Minor and Northwesterns' Run Defense should be interesting too.

Lee's Pick- Northwestern
Kirk's Pick- Northwestern
