Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Preview Game 3

#23 Michigan Wolverines (2-0)

VERSUS

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-1)

Notre Dame comes in well out of the Top 25 and Michigan comes in just in the Top 25 at 23. Michigan is the favorite is this one. Notre Dame sure could put up a fight though. In one game Notre Dame has 374 yards of Total Offense and 242 of which, from passing. That could be a problem for UM. Michigan has allowed 665 passing yards in just 2 games. Thats roughly about 334 yards a game. QB #7 for Notre Dame could captailize on that. But Michigans run offense and defense have been phenomenal. In just 2 game UM has only allowed a total of 23 rushing yards. About 11 per game. Thats pretty good. Offense wise Michigan has 289 rushing yards in two games. About 144 yards a game. Notre Dame allowed 139 yards rushing in their only game. Overall, look for QB #7 to be lighting up the UM secondary, HB #4, for the Wolverines, to be getting loads of yards, and Michigan not giving up any rushing yards. Michigan should come away with this one.

Lee's Pick: Michigan
Kirk's Pick: Michigan

Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Game 3 Recap

#23 Michigan Wolverines (2-0)

VERSUS

Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-1)

Luck of the Irish??

1st Half Recap- In the first half believe it or not it was all the Fighting Irish. They dominated the half mainly by their passing. The first half was ugly for the Wolverines. They started good with a 10 yard TD pass from QB #15 to HB #4. But then QB #7 hooked up with WR #19 for a 26 yard TD. Then another 26-yard TD, this time to WR #18. Then once more to WR #18 except this one was 51 yards. And to cap it all off they added a 42 yard FG to make it 24-7 and it wasn't halftime yet. Michigan showed some life with HB #4 having a monstrous 67 yard TD (see below). Michigan ended on a good note with a 34 yard FG by K #84 with :32 making it 17-24.

HB #4 was not going to be denied here

Or here either

TIMBER!!!!!!!
Key Halftime Stats:

Total Offense- 182----238
Rushes-Yards: 13-81----9- (-5)
Pass Yards: 101----238

HB #4- 10 car. 86 yds. 1 TD 1 rec. 10 yds. 1 TD
DT #67- 4 tak. 4 TFL 3 sk.
CB #6- 4 tak. INT

QB #7- 11-12 238 yds. 3 TD 2 INT
WR #18- 4 rec. 102 yds. 2 TD
FS #27- 5 tak. INT
DT #95- 4 tak 2 TFL 1 sk.

2nd Half Recap- Michigan was nothing but heart. They didn't give up back when it was 24-7 and they aren't going to give up when it's now 24-17. Notre Dame at one point was held to 10 minutes without a point (6:00 in 2nd qtr. to 5:55 in 4th qtr.). Michigan didn't score in the 3rd but neither did ND. Michigan struck first and tied it in the second half with a 5 yard pass from QB #15 to WR #13. Then Notre Dame took back the lead with a 17 yard TD pass from QB #7 to WR #23. But......the extra point was blocked!!! (see below). Michigan could not take advantage of that though and they surrendered another TD and 2-pt. conversion before the game was done. They lost 24-38.

This was the 5 yard TD that tied the game early in the 4th

Fumble!! But they heard that a lot. Notre Dame had 8 fumbles but only lost 2

The kick is up.....no!! It's blocked!!

Key Game Stats:

Total Offense: 334----390
Rushes-Yards: 30-145----19-30
Pass Yards: 189----360
Turnovers: 5----4
Fumbles-Lost: 2-1----8-2

HB #4- 25 car. 156 yds. 1 TD 1 rec. 10 yds. 1 TD
WR #13- 5 rec. 105 yds. 1 TD
CB #6- 7 tak. INT
MLB #47- 6 tak. TFL INT

WR #18- 5 rec. 118 yds. 2 TD
DT #95- 7 tak. 3 TFL 1 sk.
FS #27- 7 tak. 2 INT

Play of the Game:

HB #4 busts through a poor boy then speeds of for 67 yards
