Re: M Go Blue!! Bringing MU to the Top

Week 8 Preview

Michigan Wolverines (4-2)

VERSUS

#6 Penn St. Nittany Lions (6-0)

Preview: Penn St. comes in as one of the biggest NCAA powerhouses so far into this season. They are 2nd in the nation in Total Offense with 3,223 yards. 2nd only to Mizzou. They have 1966 passing yards and 1237 rushing yards so they do have a pretty balanced attack. But where they win games is their defense. They have only given up 1605 total offense yards this season. Under 1100 passings yards and 550 rushing yards. Brandon Minor thinks he is gonna have a better week but Sean Lee at LOLB is going to make sure he doesn't get anything. Michigan still proves to be dominant in stopping the run so Evan Royster might have his work cut out for him. QB #15 has been dominant thus far which puts Michigan 2nd in the Big Ten in Passing Yards. Overall, look for 3 key matchups that could very well make the outcome of this game.
1. QB #15 versus the Penn St. secondary
2. Brandon Minor versus Sean Lee
3. Evan Royster versus Michigans Run Defense

Lee's Pick- Penn St.
Kirk's Pick- Penn St.

Week 8 Recap

Michigan Wolverines (4-2)

VERSUS

#6 Penn St. Nittany Lions (6-0)

Just Another Saturday On The Field

1st Half Recap: That's basically what explains the game. Penn St. just went about their business knocking Michigan right out of the water. It was close for a q.....no wait nevermind Penn St. totally killed. What else killed was turnovers. Michigan had tons, literally, tons of chances to get points but turnovers really hurt. It all started with Evan Royster scoring on a 2 yard TD run that put the Nittany Lions up by 7. Then Daryll Clark hooked up with Deon Butler for a 6 yard TD strike. But the XP was blocked. Michigan finally got on the board with K #84's 31 yard FG. Penn St. Daryll Clark threw another TD this time to Jordan Norwood for 12 yards. Clark struck once more, this time as time expired in the first half, with Kevin Cousins for 36 yards. But it was blocked again. So the score going into the second half was well in Penn St. favor as it was 26-3.

This was one of 4 interceptions thrown by QB #15

Penn St. scored but the extra point was blocked

Michigan had their fair share of picks as Brandon Harrison gets this one in the endzone.

And this one which turned into a big return

Key Halftime Stats:

Total Offense: 187----228
Turnovers: 6----3
Rushes-Yards: 25-71----6-41

Brandon Minor- 20 car. 97 yds.
Greg Matthew- 4 rec. 79 yds.
Donovan Warren- 3 tkl 1 INT

Daryll Clark- 14-25 187 yds. 3 TD 3 INT
Sean Lee- 6 tkl (2 TFL) 1 sk.
LE #57- 5 tkl (3 TFL) 1 sk.

2nd Half Recap- The second half is when you knew it was over. (I super-simmed the 4th quarter). Daryll Clark was Big Ten Player of the Week material as he threw 4 touchdowns then was pulled. His 4th TD was to Derrick Williams. a 20 yard strike with under 30 ticks to go in the 3rd. Clark was pulled and Pat Devlin came in and threw a TD to Jordan Norwood. Now it was 40-3 and really game over. But Michigan didn't really quit as QB #15 threw 2 touchdowns to Toney Clemons. One for 4 yards and one for 20 yards. But by then it was way too late and Penn St. stays undefeated as they beat up on Michigan and win 40-17.

There were plenty of fumbles in this game. Like this one

(Super-simmed so only one pic)

Key Game Stats:

Total Offense: 370----373
Rushes-Yards: 45-57----12-71
Pass Yards: 313----302
Sacked: 7 times----0 times
Turnovers: 7----5

QB #15- 20-35 313 yds. 2 TD 4 INT
Brandon Minor- 35 car. 109 yds.
Greg Matthews- 10 rec. 189 yds
SS #5- 5 tkl.
Donovan Warren- 4 tkl. 1 INT

Daryll Clark- 20-31 275 yds. 4 TD 3 INT
Jordan Norwood- 6 rec. 72 yds. 2 TD
Derrick Williams- 6 rec. 85 yds. 1 TD
Tyrell Sales- 8 tkl (4 TFL) 1 sk 1 INT
Sean Lee- 7 tkl (3 TFL) 1 sk.

Keys to Victory Recap:

1. QB #15 versus the Penn St. secondary
Penn St. Secondary

2. Brandon Minor versus Sean Lee
Toss Up

3. Evan Royster versus Michigans Run Defense
Michigans Run Defense
