Air Force, three other schools consider games on aircraft carrier
AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) -- Air Force, Navy, North Carolina and Michigan State are in talks about playing a basketball doubleheader on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier in November.
The NCAA has given its approval and ESPN has agreed to broadcast the game, Air Force senior associate athletic director Mike Saks told The Gazette newspaper in Colorado Springs. The Defense Department must give final approval and would determine which carrier would be used and in which port.
The Air Force clinched its first Mountain West Conference regular-season title Monday.
