St. Louis Rams 2003/2004 Season analysis thread.
Welcome to my 2003 St. Louis Rams Thread. I'll be bumping this up as the season nears to give my game-by-game predictions of preseason and regular season games. Also to keep track of KURT WARNER'S ''comeback''. Stats and all!
Key offensive players in 2003. Kurt Warner - 6-2, 220 pounds. He's back, he's healthy, and he has something to prove. He IS the leader of the offense, and his down fall will result in another bad season. When healthy, he is possibly the best quarterback in the NFL. Expect 30-35 touchdowns. Marshall Faulk - 5-11, 211 pounds. We follow up having the best quarterback in the NFL, with possibly having the best all around player in the NFL. Faulk can run, he can catch, he can break any game open. As long as he has Warner or Bulger taking the snaps, Marshall Faulk should bounce back with an MVP type season. Torry Holt - 6-0, 190 pounds. The better of the two receivers IMO. Having Bruce, Holt and Faulk might not make our receiving ''corpse'' as good as Kansas City's (sarcasm), but we're pretty solid at the position. Now if one of the rookies step in and take the 3rd spot, all will be happy in Ram land. Orlando Pace - 6-7, 800 pounds. Signing Pace is a huge key to our success. Kyle Turley - 6-5, 300 pounds. A HUGE addition to our offensive line. Now if Pace will sign, we'll certainly have a top line in the NFL. Early prediction - Division title will be back in its rightful place. As long as Warner is healthy, there is no rivalry between the Rams and 49ers. I believe he has yet to lose a game to them. Seattle and Arizona will be irrelevant Preseason schedule - Raiders, Bucs, Bills and Chiefs. The preseason might be more important than it should be this season. Warner and Bulger will both want to come out and make an early stand. It's important for Warner to look good right away. |

Key Defensive players...
Leonard Little - 6-3, 257 pounds. 44 tackles, 12 sacks. Tommy Polley - 6-4, 240 pounds. 57 tackles. Travis Fisher - 5-10, 189 pounds. 61 tackles. Aeneas Williams - 5-11, 200 pounds. 29 tackles. Adam Archuleta - 6-0, 215 pounds. 108 tackles. Not too bad. The secondary worries me though. I like Williams and Fisher just fine, but other than those two, I don't see anyone that will step up and help THIS season. I'm hoping that our offense will carry us, like it did in 2000, BEFORE Trent Green took over and ruined everything. The addition of Jimmy Kennedy should help. Damione Lewis needs to step up, and do what we expected him to do. Jamie Duncan is about worthless. I'm not as confident in our defense as other Ram fans, but if Williams and Fisher stay healthy, everything should be okay. Bring on the Raiders.. Preseason is better than nothing! |

How big of an impact do you think Jimmy Kennedy will have for you guys? Do you think he'll miss any training camp time due to contract holdouts?

C'mon fred........I was just kidding around. Nothing wrong with a little rivalry. Anyway the rams are looking good this year. If Marshall Faulk and Warner get back to 100% from their injury's than they are going to have a good year. I want to see Bulgar challenge Warner for his spot. Still they are nothing compared to the raiders

![]() ST. LOUIS (July 18) -- The St. Louis Rams solved one offseason dilemma Friday by signing wide receiver Torry Holt to a seven-year contract. Now, attention turns to another star unhappy with his contract -- offensive tackle Orlando Pace. The Rams also signed their two fourth-round draft picks, wide receiver Shaun McDonald and cornerback DeJuan Groce. Holt, 27, was about to enter the final season of a five-year, $10 million contract he signed after being drafted out of North Carolina State in 1999. The new contract is effective beginning this season. "I'm ready to get back to work,'' Holt said. "I've been blessed with a lot of energy. I love the game. I love what I do.'' Coach Mike Martz called the signing one of his happiest days as coach. "He's just going to get better,'' Martz said. "It's exciting to think about all the things that can happen with him offensively.'' Pace is threatening to hold out when the team opens training camp next week in Macomb, Ill. He is upset over being named the Rams' franchise player and also wants a contract extension. "He's got to do what he has to do,'' Martz said. "You just coach the guys in camp.'' Pace skipped a minicamp in the spring. Holt, a team captain, showed up despite the negotiations that were stalled at the time. Holt had his third straight 1,000-yard receiving season in 2002, leading the team with 91 catches for 1,302 yards. But his four touchdown receptions and his 14.3 yards-per-catch were career lows as the Rams, expected to contend for the Super Bowl, went 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 1998. Holt is seventh in Rams history in receptions with 306 and receiving yards with 5,088. He was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2000 and 2001 seasons. McDonald was the 106th overall pick. He caught 156 passes for 2,867 yards and 24 touchdowns at Arizona State. Groce, the 107th overall pick, had four interceptions last season for Nebraska, though his gaudiest numbers came returning punts, where he scored a school-record four touchdowns, breaking Johnny Rodgers' 1972 mark.
