''Weak armed'' Ken Dorsey signs with SF.

Ahh. It's so nice seeing the kid throw it all back in the haters faces. He was too skinny to play in the NFL. Added weight before draft day.... His arm was too weak to make it on any team... He just signed with SF, and made the team. I knew the kid could do it. You can't keep a hard worker down. I can't wait to see him play during the preseason. Next step? Jeff Garcia's job. ;)

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- Two-time Heisman Trophy finalist Ken Dorsey signed a three-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday.

Dorsey, the 49ers' seventh-round draft pick, was one of the most successful quarterbacks in college football history at Miami.

He set just about every passing record at Miami, and was 38-2 as a starter. Dorsey led the Hurricanes to the national championship game in each of the last two seasons -- winning two seasons ago.

Dorsey slipped to the final round of the draft amid concerns about his arm strength. But the Bay area native impressed the 49ers with a powerful arm during minicamps. He's all but certain to make their roster in training camp, which begins Friday.

Tim Rattay and Brandon Doman also are competing to back up three-time Pro Bowl quarterback Jeff Garcia. 49ers general manager Terry Donahue said the team might keep four quarterbacks on their roster for the third straight season.

What makes you say that? The several superbowl rings on Garcia's fingers? Or the bad case of happy feet he gets during important games? You're right though, it's Garcia's team, but the guy is just an average quarterback. Jeff's time is limited, Dorsey will be making strides by 2005.

It's funny how everyone thinks being the 49ers future is really that difficult. I mean, some think Tim Rattay is already better than Jeff Garcia. Jeff Garcia is an average quarterback, that blows big games. I'm pretty sure Ken Dorsey can live up to that. Hopefully whoever the 49ers future is, will be a bit better than the guy they have throwing the ball right now.... T.O has his fingers crossed. ;)

Jeff is an okay QB, with a nice passer rating, but can't get the job done when it counts. Just remember this one thing, pal, Ken Dorsey just entered the NFL, and he already has the same amount of Superbowl appearances as Jeff Garcia and Peyton Manning. :D

Even thou I am not a 49er fan or Dorsey fan what JohnnyEcstacy just said is 100% right.

Dorsey is a smart QB for the most part, very Bernie Kosar like. And with the NFL being what it is now, with Trent Dilfers winning superbowls, Ken Dorsey is certainly capable of leading a team like the niners in the future. (By no means am I saying the niners have the Ravens D, but many lesser QBs have won superbowls, thats all. ) It seems like in todays game, alot of teams just dont want their QB to turn the ball over.

I really think Dorsey can eventually become a starter in the league and teams will regret passing him up.

First off, its TO's team.

And Garcia is an average QB? He's been a top QB for the past 3 years... last season was an off season for him. He had a season with 94 QB rating and 97 QB rating, thats really good aka above average QB. Garcia can scrammble, hes not a Michael Vick or McNAbb... but he can do it. And you tellin me Garcia isn't a clutch QB, you haven't seen Dorsey play in one NFL game yet. And did you already forget what round Dorsey got picked? 7th... I don't see Ken Dorsey gettin Garcia's job any time soon...

Give Peyton Manning a healthy RB and a decent defense and he'll get you there. Unlike a guy like Donovan Mcnabb who is too scared to win a game by taking chances downfield Peyton takes risk to win the big ones. That's a sign of a winner. Manning will one day be playing for the Lombardi trophy.

As an Eagles fan I can't stand how Mcnabb is so conservative with his passes against a good defense. Sure, he can beat up on the Cardinals but against the Bucs the man looks like he's seen a ghost.

pimp slap is a RAIDERs fan, so like most raider fans, he hates any guy the 49ers have starting at QB.

johnyxtasy...

there is NO WAY that Dorsey will replace Garcia within the next 3years. he has yet to play a pro game.
Garcia is a top 10 maybe even top 5 quarter back in the NFL.

what do you have against the man???
