The Bronco Thread
Yo I just wanted to start up this thread because I love the broncos and wanted to see if I was the only one out there who did. Just certain questions that need to be discussed
1) How will the team do under the helm of Jake the Snake Plummer? 2) Will Clinton Portis have a sophmore jinx? 3) Will we still have pass blocking problems from our offensive line who have been trained for Run blocking only? 4) What the hell are we going to do about our secondary? 5) WHY IN THE HELL DID WE DROP ERIC BROWN AFTER THE 2001 SEASON, HE WAS AN AMAZING SAFETY AND I THOUGHT HE WOULD BE WEARING A BRONCO UNIFORM FOR AWHILE WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? |

Right on GB. Glad to hear I'm not alone on these boards. Go Broncos!!
Let me try and give my insight to your questions here: 1. I don't really care if they are a .500 team with Plummer, I'm just glad I don't have to see any more of those rainbow 25 yd passes from Griese anymore. He would throw that damn ball up for grabs if it was more than 20 yds. Seriously though, some leadership at the QB position will do us some good. 2. Portis is too cocky to have sophomore jinx. He isn't going to surprise anyone this year and I think teams will go back to defending the Broncos like they used to when Terrell was back there. I mean Gary and Anderson were good, very good but Portis has that extra gear that will kill teams if they don't defend well, just like ol TD did. He would bust through that hole and be gone. 3. We need some help here. If that kid from Georgia pans out we've got a good start on rebalancing the line to and run and pass blocking line. 4. This is SCARY. O'Neal makes as many mistakes as big plays. He doesn't suck but he isn't a Surtain or Madison. Who's going to play opposite of him? Walls? Herndon? Spencer just needs to pick up the clipboard and become a full-time coach and forget about this player coach thing. He isn't a player anymore(he does have a knack for being in right place at right time for a few ints though) Not sure about who is it Young I think. He's a second year guy. I really haven't heard a whole lot of talk about the other CB. This could doom our season if one of these kids doesn't step up 5. EB? He was awful. Yeah he could knock someone's lights out but he couldn't cover worth a damn. Even if he was mediocore with his coverage skills I'm sure he'd still be with the Broncos. He wasn't and that's why he was cut. Remember the year they cut him? For some reason people kept saying how he'd be picked up right away. He was still sitting at home after the season started Hopefully with Collier back there our D will be even better than it was last year. It was good enough stat wise but overall it was just above average(except on 3rd downs or against the Raiders ugh!). Again, the DB's..its still SCARY. Tell me this, I know it was for cap reasons but why Denard Walker? Nobody ever talked about him much because nobody threw his way on a regular basis. He did his job quietly and efficiently. He coulnd't catch a cold but hey at least he wasn't getting burned all the time |

Definitly agree with you on alot of the points, but you forget Willie Middlebrookes, he has been trying to come around and if he ever recovers from his plethora of injuries he might turn out to be the corner we spent a first round pick on. Sam Brandon and Kennoy Kennedy back at safeties will do us alright, though Brandon did step up and play pretty good last year I dont know how well he will hold up at starting FS. I definitly disagree with you on eric brown, that guy could catch hit and was at the right place at the right time, I mean if you get 20 tackles in a game, thats amazing. He is a quality ball player and he just signed with texans like a 30 million 5 year deal. Hopefully Willie middlebrookes and Sam Brandon and the help of Lee Flowers will improve our shotty secondary, oh and I definitly agree with denard walker, we should have just renegotiated contract, or rather renogotiate Delthas, he is the one playing like Terrel Buckley back there, going for every pick and either getting it or getting burned. We will see.

Middlebrooks is a PIECE OF CRAP!!! lol
Long time BRONCO fan here. Here's some REAL Bronco trivia to test how long u've been a fan of the Orange and Blue (gawd, I miss the old Unis) 1. What did the old Broncos Helmet look like before the current one (the helmet they wore from 1970-1997)? 2. Who wore #7 BEFORE John Elway came along? 3. Who was Head Coach for Denver's first trip to the Super Bowl? 4. Who was John Elway's backup quarterback from 1983-1991? 5. Who were "The Three Amigos"? Back in the late 1990's, when Denver was kickin $ss, and everyone was jumping on the bandwagon (like so many do with winning teams - see those Buccs fans)......I would ask questions like this to see if they were "true" fans.....course I realize that most of u guys were probably too young for all this OLD Bronco info......I'm dating myself...sigh.... Anyways, GO BRONCOS!!!! Dr. Tom www.powermaddenleague.com |

listen im 19 years old, I started liking the broncos in 89, when I was 6. Im guessing he backup qb was gary kubiak. Dan Reaves was probally the coach, thee amigos I dont know. Oh course I remember the helmets, all my bronco gear is still mostly the old stuff, havent updated my wardrobe yet. And I hope your not calling me a bandwagon jumper, Im from Florida and have 3 teams to choose from, but as a kid I liked the orange crush, and you know when your 6 years old you dont have much football knowledge to go off of. I had to start somewhere, what was your favorite team when you were six years old... I mean come on pal.

I'm not sure signing with the Texans is a big thing. I know they are an NFL team and obviously he's a better player than I am but he wasn't that good. Brandon should do well and Kennedy will be fine as long as he can stay healthy. I worry sometimes about that guy. He makes some crushing hits but I'm holding my breathe each time.

a BIG KUDOS to "Bronco Fan" and "GBT31" haha
GBT31, for only 19 years old, u know that they are the "Orange Crush" even though they aren't very ORANGE anymore...lol....and u knew KUBIAK and his history as a KICK ASS backup quarterback....thats good!!!! Bronco Fan, ur from Denver, i would HOPE u would know all those trivia answers....and when I saw u give the name of the infamous horse, BUCKY, from the old helmet......i didn't know there was anyone else that would remember that one!! lol..... great job on that one. Great point bout the "average" Three Amigos.... no pro bowl appearances for those three guys!! lol It was RED MILLER, by the way. He also coached the USFL Denver Gold in 1983 before being let go and replaced by my all time favorite QB, Craig Morton!!!!!! Back to modern day. Denver's offense looks like it will be prolific, similar to what is was in the late 90's, to some extent. Once again, the D-Line and LB's are very solid, but that DAMN SECONDARY is BRUTAL and that will be a HUGE problem...sigh....keep ur fingers crossed this season.
