Value Based Drafting

Who uses this, if so, why?...If u need to know what VBD is, its where u take the highest valued player, no matter what position...For example, Its in the 3rd round, my first two picks were rb's, and I look over my VBD sheet, and I see the next highest rated player is a RB........Theres been good reviews about using this method, Myself, Ive never tried it, opinions?

I'm not a big VBD person. I get the gist of it and it is a good idea, but I would rather just go by need and then value. It gets a little scary if you have 2 RBs, as in your hypothetical, and then the highest value player is another RB. Do you risk taking a fourth round QB? I don't know. WRs aren't as important to me, as you can find solid value WRs in the later rounds, but in your hypo, I think I would have to seriously look at a QB. But, I do like what VBD is about, it is just a little iffy at times, but to each their own. Everyone drafts their own ways.

This year will be my 5th year being apart of Fantasy Football.

I tried the VBD so far in one draft I've had. Its useful to a point. At times you need to go with what you feel is needed not what the VBD generated for you to choose.

IMO, It's good, but to get to carried away with it.

I've tried many strategies. I've even picked 4 RB's in five rounds before. Draft strategies work to an extent, because there's always those idiots who take someone way early or go after their favorite players. Drafting is really just reacting to what other guys are doing. You can come in with all the mock drafts you want, but they always seem very different.

In VBD u need to make up projected stats and i'm not very good at that. I have instincts on which guys will have good years but i don't wanna waste the time of making up numbers for players. And if the numbers are right i could see it working but if there not ur screwed.

go here then...
fantasyindex.com

they provide projected stats with or without injuries included. Pretty nice. You need the magazine to find the password to get to these, but just ask in here if you want me to post it since I have the magazine. They change the password everyday. They use a system that, for example, asks you what is the 5th word in the 9th paragraph on page 63.
