IGN: NHL 2005 Developer Diary Pt. 1

http://sports.ign.com/articles/528/528826p1.html

For those who haven't seen this yet. Couple new screenshots, and a new movie. The movie seems to be mainly cut scenes, but it looks amazing. Some of the pre-game stuff is incredible, with the Oil rig in Edmonton, flashing red lights in Calgary, the big purple octopus in Detroit, and I assume a lot more.

I can't get over the detail on those jerseys, looks great.

Hey, thanks for the link Kolbe! This was really interesting to read!

I loved this :):

From the transitions to the longer cut scenes (so you can enjoy a frosty beverage between stoppages), I think fans will really enjoy the new feel of this year's game.
I'll be getting home from work soon, and then I'll be able to check out the media.

Finally, a video with a reasonable game speed.... and it looked pretty good.

The good
goalie animations
deking
game intros/presentation
puck physics (it actually bounces)
wrist shots

Cool
Lidstrom scoring from his knees
Ruutu picking up his stick that he lost after taking a big hit

The Bad
Hitting - doesn't look much different from last year
Sound - some things just don't sound right

Is it just me, or is the puck way to big?

its probably because those previews are shown in beginner mode, you know how the puck is bigger in beginner
