I don't mind it because when i get the game i usually get addicted to the gameplay. And then when i create a player it takes away from the realisim to my dynasty. So i don't mind that it's out cause i use it once and then it loses all meaning to me, just another player!

HOCKEY ON MY ENTERNET

yeah, there's no more room for create-a-player... they were too busy getting motion captures for "calling a pick"...
just when the game gets good, like 2004, they ruin it... and i'm not just talking about create-a-player. i'm talking about "open ice" and "calling a pick" and all the other goofy offensive oriented gimmicks. so i'm reading all the previews, and i'm seeing that the biggest subtraction from the game is create-a-player (which means a lot to me, as an xbox owner, who doesn't have high-speed internet), while the biggest addition to the game is that they've legalized obstruction and interference, and market it as "creating open ice"... i would say that i'm going to go with sega's game, but i'll probably just go with nhl2004. __________________

Sega and EA are both very upsetting in 2004 for me.
I might still be playing NHL2k3 for another year, along with Hitz PRO when I am in the mode to just score goals. EA's call for a pick" feature souonded scary to me at first, but maybe you can set it so that if the pick is a moving pick it will be a penalty, because that is the way it is in real life obviously. But picks are a huge play in hockey, and they are never called as long as the person setting the pick doesnt change his lane to slow or stop an opponent without the puck. Who knows, there might be a realistic risk/reward factor there, and yeah it isnt likely, but you never know i guess. The sega series still has the crazy animations and onetimers, and the retarded goalies. I am praying that Next Level games somehow finds a way to release a game sometime this year, or maybe even in early 2005... without the NHL license... i wouldnt even care about the NHL license i swear to god. I just want GAMEPLAY that is realistic... and hitz pro had by far, the most realistic puck physics, and goalies... and considering the rumors that they left or got dropped by midway because they wanted to make a more realistic game, maybe my praying will work. Back on topic, Create a player is a huge feature to drop. I mean, considering it has been in games for a while, it almost does not make sense to take it out. that is poor time management... I would say I understand that they were trying to enhance the feature, but couldnt finish... but that was a pretty pathetic decision to take it out completely just because they couldnt make a SUPER CREATE A PLAYER feature... just leave the old one in, i dont care what the faces will look like i just wanna create rookies that wont be in the game. __________________

This is a major major dissapointment for me, as part of the fun for me has always been to create myself a couple of friends and the see how we do over the season. I can't believe that they've decided to scrap a standard feature like this. Does it mean that the game will suck? No. Will I still buy it? Yes, probably. But it really takes away a lot of the fun, and the argument that it doesn't matter too much since it'll return next year is really stupid. I don't get next years game for the money I'm dishing out this year.

i loved using the create-a-player thingy in franchise mode, seeing how my alter ego does over the course of a decade or so :D
but i enjoyed playing Online even more and i like what i heard regarding that. I'm looking forward to get this game, hope the gameplay is better and the cross-crease and stuff 'money goals' are gone. i understand it's hard to see why they left it out, but gameplay and the online upgrade are more important for me. @old man: I would have liked to see a new Hitz, too. there's nothing better than an evening with beer, pizza and Hitz :D __________________ ![]() Thank you #19 - in pucks we trust! - A member of the Detroit Red Wings' front office once said of goaltender Dominik Hasek, "He's a nut, but that nut can stop the puck." |

:D I'm glad i'm not the only one who's disappointed re the created players. It just frustrated me to see things that work fine only to see them taken out and, i'm betting, never to return. If 2005 is considered a success does anybody (honestly) think they'll put it back in?? EA woulld seeing that as taking a step backwards. I'll likely rent ESPN but could easily stick with Hitz Pro (and Hitz of course!!) (Plus, i've got NHL2001 for the pc. Sweet.)__________________ ![]()

Well, judging by this it will be back (figuring you missed it): http://www.doubleminor.net/forums/sh...96&postcount=7
Also, I don't think they took it out for fun. It has been said that they made a new UI, so I'm guessing compatibility issues. It might even say that in the Snooper quote - I don't remember anymore (, nor will I bother to scroll and check ).__________________ ![]() FHR07 (SM-liiga & more for NHL 07) can be found at http://fhr.fi!
