No create-a-player??

I read on a other site (from another person) that it's being taken out. I've never read anything but that certainly means little. Anybody got a better reference?? Thx.

I read that too. It was said in the NHL Summit chat. The people that actually played the game.

Plus, it was taken off the key feature lists on every preview for the game.

They were suppose to add "game face", which is what Tiger woods 2004 had. It's a very in-depth create-a-player too.

This sucks big time. Looks like I'll be leaning more towards ESPN this year.

around the 10:10 mark (up to 11:37)

<Mediator> biggest cons: create-a-player not in the game, no stat exports, no free agency list in online season mode

I'm not buyin' it no matter if it spits out nickels. I was 100% sure i'd get this game as many things look fantastic, but it simply seems to be an EA rule to take out much of the good stuff to make room for other things. I'll be stickin' with Hitz and Hitz Pro. Having to create a player for each season is better than not having it at all. Sad move by EA. Seems things have't really changed much in the few years i've been away.

So true. They take something out useful each year in order to add something useless. They add the World Cup, and take out create-a-player. Somebody tell me how that makes sense? Their priorities aren't very good.

ESPN looks decent, but it still has some noticeable flaws. Looks like another poor year for hockey games.

"Snooper", who is Dave Warfield, head creator of EA SPORTS and the NHL series, has offered an apology and an explanation. Read, and I quote:

----------
The removal of Create-A-Player was not an easy decision, and we fully understand that some people will be very upset about this. There has been an upgrade to a number of systems in the game this year, including the menu system, the rendering and the connections to the database. Due to this, last years Create-A-Player had to be completely rewritten, including some planned improvements.

Unfortunately due to technology issues, running out of time, and the quality of the feature, we had to make a decision to focus our efforts on the gameplay and not trying to get the existing Create-A-Player working. It was just not in a state that anyone was happy with, it didn't work, and had a lot of work to go that would have meant sacrificing other areas, or releasing the game even later, not something many of you seem to want.

I understand and appreciate everyones concern, I feel the same, I feel terrible about it, but it was something we had to do. We will be making a strong effort to release Roster updates more frequently including the new rookies, and rest assured that this feature will be back in NHL 2006, better than ever. The Create-A-Team feature is still in the game.

Sorry everyone,

Snooper

-------------------------------

Now, what I've said on another board was if you have the PC version, you can definately have your created player on. I am going to, I have done so year after year, including NHL 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001. I have created my player, my jersey#, my play-by-play, my cyber face, my in-game picture, everything WITHOUT using the create-a-player option.

Those of you with consoles, you're outta luck, but PC users get another benefit. I'll see you all on the ice!

Thanks for the note disappointing as it is. I could buy the pc version but my buddy also has an XBox and that's what i've gotta stick with. I was EXTREMELY eager to get 2005 but not having the created players sinks it for me no matter how good it is. I could live w/out a lot of **** but not that. (sigh)
