no... 9.5 means little room for improvment. Unless the 9.5 is rating it compared to the other hockey games THAT year alone cuz faceoff and sega and hitz and rivals were comparable.

but the game itself in 2004 was like a 8. lots of room for improvment

82/100 here in Finland in Pelit-magazine. Don't know EGM, then.

ESPN NHL Hockey:
Demian:8.5
GregS.:9.0
Bryan:9.0

NHL 2004:
Greg S.:8.5
Demian:6.5
Bryan: 7.0

NHL Hitz Pro:
Demian:7.5
Greg S.: 8.5
Milkman: 8.0

Supposedly Greg left EGM, and Demian is still one of the reviewers. (who probably gave it a 6.0 this year)

I'd like to point out, that many of the games flaws aren't that clear from the start and that's why ENH got that great scores last year (imo). This year I think they are a bit more prepared and all...
My point is, that though the scores are lower, doesn't mean the games are worse.

The only reason they give ESPN the higher scores is cause they like how its shaped like ESPN presentation. IF NHL 2005 was sponsered by TSN or CBC, it would get the same marks in my oppinion

I disagree. They gave ESPN a better score, because overall it was a better hockey game. Despite it's many bugs and annoyances it was imo a much better hockey game (on the ice) than NHL2004. And I doubt EGM would sink that low to score another game higher just because of licensed presentation, EGM is usually pretty good at being fair. But I am a little concernced about their ratings for both games this year, seem a little too low especially NHL 2005...
