Gamespot NHL 07 review

Doesn't seem to be a raving review. High score for being pretty and the innovation of the new skill stick. After that kinda ho hum sounding.......

Still better than the PC version no doubt...LOL

Both IGN and Gamespot didn't give the goalies any credit. Gamespot said something like "yeah, they move a little better BUT....". Pretty sad, that the best goalies ever are unnoticed by "professionals". Gamespot even considered the fact that pucks can bounce to the net from the goalies' gear a bad thing.
I have been playing hockey games passionately for over 12 years, and goalies in NHL 07 are the best EVER. It really bugs me that every review goes on and on about the skill stick (yes, we all know what it does, everyone knows what it does, people who haven't played the game know what it does) and everything else seems to be just bull****.

I'm in a bad mood.

Yeah, I've noticed that also. Though I haven't played the game yet, so I can't say if the goalies are as good as they seem to be in those videos I've seen on the Internet. I'm going to buy Xbox 360 soon, and on next friday I'll be - hopefully - playing NHL 07 (next gen). Can't wait 'til then! :D

I think the goalies are getting less credit because of the terrible defensive AI.

I guess I could, it's gonna be extra short though. The title says it all "Next gen NHL 07 scores a hat trick even though SM-liiga is nowhere to be found".

The reviewer concentrates in the new analog system first explaining how it works and then there's a report of 3 goals he scored. Within these descriptions he writes about the other features like the goalies, puck physics, AI.

In the closing he describes the game as an NHL-hockeysim. "Implementation: A new ingenious control system and the prettiest graphics of next gen." "Evaluation: Best videogame hockey ever." 5/5 stars.

Correct. Yeah, the reviews mention innovations, but they don't really seem to pick up on the small details of authenticity which EA bagged this year - like you said the bounces off the pads, or the goalies, or little touches like puck deflections. All those things are just "by the way" type of throwaway comments, but those things make a game for me.
