Re: News - EA Community Day 2007

Interesting conversation you guys got going on about the Sliders. Actually guys there was so much to write down and pay attention to i totally forgot to even look at the sliders. But from what i've played the game is slower, which is awesome cuz you can now see plays develop and players move around into position. I love the speed and i'm sure you guys will too. Setting up plays is so sick now!

I second that...SWEET.

We have got to see what they will be offering in terms of online/dynasty. I'm willing to go with 2K8 this year just based on those two features.

You should try the PC version then! Passing is very easy there. And please send me your xbox360! ;)

Being I never played 07, how do you think I heard, the sliders have no effect on speed, if it weren't for you people of this great forum. And after hearing this, I went to youtube and saw it for myself.

I play 04. It has the best gameplay. The sliders work well. Lets not compare 04 and 07 for argument sake. Lets just assume things have gone down hill since 04 in gameplay. BTW alot of people came back to 04, cause 07 was too fast, and had lousy goalies.

Now, I see everyone who went to community day are raving about 08. And maybe rightfully so. They went in with real concerns, a list of things that needed improvement and so on. And on all accounts, they were not only addressed, but were greatly impressed with the results.

Thanks, metalpuck for replying. Surprized you didn't check the sliders. Thought that was a big issue concering 07, (before the latest roster update, which I also heard, made a big difference in 07's gameplay). Plus, when ever do you play a game with default sliders??? Although,... If you found no need to adjust the default sliders (game is too fast, too slow, what have you), then I guess that could be considered as a very good thing. What am I saying,.... A great thing!

You say 08 is slower, I guess compared to 07, no? At what gamespeed did you play 07?

Metalpuck has been nice enough to answer all of our questions, and I really believe in what he says (An entirely different game). I am tired of playing 04, and I am dieing to step up to the next-gen in hockey gaming. Would like to read more on what others thought (there were 12 guest), and so far, have read Metalpuck and oilersguru. (where can I find the others?)

Re: News - EA Community Day 2007

I have custom sliders on my 07 X360 game, but I remember reading plenty of comments about people saying that despite the low number of notches each slider had, they actually worked.

Ya my sliders definately made a different on next gen 07, are you sure you aren't talking about the current gen 07 sliders not having much effect?

Speed guys, were talking about speed. And how do you adjust the speed?

If the game is still too fast (passing and skating) when sliders are on zero. Then they don't work as they should. I don't care about the other sliders, cause if you can't get the proper game speed, the rest don't matter.

Passes should not be faster, or as fast,.. as slapshots. And it sure looks like that in 07.

I'm not trying to bash 07, just wondering if they fixed the problem in 08. Is Speed more adjustable to a point, where you can make it too slow, and have to raise it up a couple of notches. Cause you certainly couldn't say that about 07, if you guys have your gamespeed on zero.

Let me tell you something, bashing NHL 07 is the only way 08 will get better. And by the looks of it, it has! :)

Hmm guess i wasn't totally clear. I will be posting a full article on my thoughts, holding nothing back. Everything i love about the game and what i think is cool i will talk about. If i forget something or you want more detail you can ask me questions. I will be making a new thread called "Aftermath - all details of NHL 08 revealed" so look for it. Does that answer your Q Avs?

Guys there's always room for improvement in any situation. i will give my full analysis especially on what would be cool for 09...don't worry. There's not much at all to complain about though.
