Huge wishlist for NHL 08 (NG)

You might be interested to know that for dynasty mode, there is a list (its a team acutally) for retired/unavailable players. The only thing is that getting on the list is usually decided by the CPU via retirements, and the user doesn't have access to it.

With a roster editor (available for PC versions only cuz you can mod stuff and run user tools) you can retire/unretire players all you'd like. I remember in my 10th year of dyansty in NHL 06 for PC I had Sundin, Roberts, Messier, Nolan, Mogilny, Niewendyk, Yzerman, Chelios,Lidstrom, Pronger, Norstrom and Belfour on my team =D

i really liked this mode in 06 madden, but in 07 where you can only control your player, i find that un-fun.

if they make a superstar mode, then it has to be where you play the game, and your aware that the player is on the ice, but you dont have to control only him, kinda like madden 06 for xbox.

the rest i agree with you, especially with the practise mode and loading screen.

in madden 07 superstar mode you can control more player than only yours. if you control only your player its because youve select the cpu control mode. you can deselect it in the settings i think and control the defense.

btw, hope the superstar mode will be add since it will also be in mlb 07

Great ideas for nhl 08. I fear that ea won't implement half of them, but we can always hope. I wanted to add one thing that I haven't seen yet. I would very much like to see some decent user goalie controls. Perhaps this has been addressed in the next gen version already ( i have nhl 06 for pc). The last time I enjoyed controlling the goalie, and felt as though doing so actually affected the game, was in nhl 96 for the nintendo!

The goalie injuries really must be in - I do understand NHLPA position on that and yes, the player should not be able to inflict an injury to a player, but so far the only reason we ever had to change a goalie is their fatigue from too many games, but do you remember how Atlanta had to change somewhere around 7 goalies, cause of injuries? That should be in the game too.

if you are interested as playing as the goalie i would almost recommend nhl 2k7 to ya. they did do a decent job of playing as the goaltender, however the looks of the goalie are pretty hideous in my mind. 07 blew them out of the water visually and fundamentally

1) Game Modes: for one thing they added in the Skills competition which is nice because most of the people (90%) asked for this to be in the game for a while now. They also added in a practice mode as well so that the user can get used to the new controls which is nice because last year i believe that they had the shootout for the demo to get used to the game but a practice and skills comp. is frickin' sweet! One other game mode i think everyone wants in this series is a SUPERSTAR MODE. I can see why because the guys who do madden did a pretty good job on this. u get drafted (w/out NCAA fooball u get drafted pretty high 3-4 round the odd time 2nd round) and u have to do some test i.q. test or w/e it is. also u have to do interviews to keep up or boost ur popularity with the fans. also u can get the cover athlete for maddens next title (never ever got it), which is nice but could care less about it. i think if Nhl 08 added this in they would have a lot more buyers of this game and a lot more fan basis too.

2) A.I. improvements: the game last year kinda slacked its way threw this catagory, but you have to remember that it was E.A.'s first next gen hockey game. what i hope they do in this game is fix the crappy rebounds that go in off of the goalie. i mean come on the puck does not bounce like that, it does rarely but not as much as it does in the game ( i should know i'm a goalie). but ya the odd shot does go in but not as much as it does in this game at all. also i hope they fix the defensive A.I. too. because when i switched to defence they wouldn't continue going backwards. they would stop and then the forward would beat going around the defender. this made me made. and the forwards are too slow. they added in speed burst which is nice and crossovers too.

3) Presentation: the grafix in this game last year were incredible! like wow. i thought a hockey game couldn't look n e better. they improved the stiching in the jersey's too this year. but what i like to see is a better score board. like what joborule2 put up in his wishlist. it'll show ur pp% and pk% to threw out the who year. also i'd like to see the upgrade the stats feature too. like show in game stats of a player through out the whole season and or his carrer too. also i'd like the announcers to call out the players milestones that they are going to reach. like they'd say how many goals or points they'd need to get to a certain number like for ex. paul Kariya 297 goals "kayria need 3 goals to get to 300 will he do it tonight? we'll just have to wait and see." thats what they did in nhl 2004. bring it back!

4) Create-a-player: Nhl 07 lacked this feature in last years game! i was looking forward to this feature so much because now they added on the gloves template too. so this ment u can choose ur glove brand as well. i know its not that big/important to people but i enjoy editing ur player in games. ea too all of the fun out of it cuz ur player only go RBK equipment which sucks. but if u edited ur guy at all u would get a green synergy stick (glitch). or if u created a goalie u were stuck with RBK again (which i didn't mind because i use RBK glove and Blocker myself (Marc-Ander Fleury)) but let us choose our own equipment and more faces of better yet since the xbox vision came out let us take a picture of ourselves and put it in the game (like in tony Hawks games with the face maping feature).

I would love if they would make good and easy menus which can be controlled easily with mouse like back in NHL 2000. NHL games are pure console games nowadays. Is it too hard to make GOOD MENUS like in NHL 2000? I loved the way it was.

It would be nice to see them return, and even with another league added in on top of the ones we had before. Maybe add a Russian or Czech league on top of the previous ones.


Historic Teams
Name says it all. The 2K series has had this for a long time, and it's about time EA got on board. Hopefully allow all players to be fully edited with the face creator, name database, and equipment editor.

License for RSL is too expensive
