Dynasty - as a player
So I posted this idea about a year ago I believe... don't know if it has been brought up since, but anyway:
You begin a new dynasty. A screen comes up asking you to create yourself for this dynasty. In this screen, you completely customize your look, your stats, and your past. You can make up where you played, and what were stats were. Once you do this, the game has a fantasy 2007-2008 draft in which you can decide which team drafts you, or you can have it random. Once this is complete you are assigned by the coach a spot in the lineup. Usually you'll begin on the second or third line, or maybe even the first line if your stats are good and you play for a bad team. The first game, there is a nice cut scene in which the commentator introduces you. The game begins, however - you are locked as yourself. You do not control the AI when you are not on the ice. When on the ice, locked as yourself, you can call for regular pass, saucer pass, or lead pass. When you have the puck, the controls are the same as the previous games. When off the ice, there could be options - such as being able to watch the game from the bench, watching it from broadcast view, other views, or just being able to sim through every shift that you are not on the ice (which would take 5-10 seconds to do). At the end of the game, you are given a performance evaluation, and building up points can earn you more ice time. You can also request more ice time or positions (such as pk and pp) from your coach, but in order to try and "force" something like this, you have to manually do some practice drills. You'll be given a chance to play a various requested positions (only if placing you there would make sense) and if you do well, you'll become a regular. If you get injured, you'll have to sim through a bunch of games. At the end of each season, you can request a trade, or a raise or test the market if a UFA. Also, while on the ice, you can have buttons which pretty much would be types of communication with players - like "attack" or "fall back" and at first you won't be listened to all the time, but as you get more experienced, players start listening to you and you can become a team leader, and eventually captain - giving you many more options in the dynasty that were previously not available. ------------------------------------------------------ So... enough with fantasizing of what it might be like to be an NHL player - and lets actually turn this into a playable simulation! Re: Dynasty - as a player
I like the idea however, it should be a different mode and not a dynasty as some people don't want that. They should do what Madden has and have a Superstar Mode.
