I watched the New York Rangers Stanley Cup video this morning. Brings back so many memories, one of my fondest memories is, I grew up in a town in LI, and many of the neighborhood kids I played street hockey with were all Isles fans. I wore a Rangers jersey to school every so often and a lot more during the playoff run that season, so everyone knew I was a Ranger fan. On the bus rides home and to school, everyone would chant 1940! even the kids who did not know what it meant, just to follow the rest of the kids chanting it whenever I got on the bus. The chants became a daily occurence once the Finals started, but on June 15th, I remember walking on that bus that morning, and nothing but silence. I even got a congrats and slap on the back from somone as I walked down towards the back of the bus to collect my 2 bucks from a few kids I bet...
