Wouldn't work, but would be awesome. All these leagues are at different levels. If I had to classify them, I'd do it in this order:

NHL
AHL/Top Euro Leagues
ECHL/UHL
Canadian Major Junior/Central Hockey League
South East Hockey League/Southern Hockey League/USHL

Anybody disagree?

Alot of SEHL and SHL players are former CHL/ECHL players. They get called up all the time. When the WHA2 was starting to fall apart practically everyone's roster went to the ECHL. I'd say the SHL/SEHL are lower AA.

I don't like to pop the bubble, but too much could be manipulated and the NHL would have to be seriously revamped to do this... no way will a team play in June (after the playoffs)... but it would be cool... even if it were just in the form of a European club championship.

8 Teams, 2 pools of 4, double round robin, 6 games (if its just Europe then I would suggest cross-pool play, then it would be 10 games)

after that the top 2 from each group will advance to a play-off round for best-of-3 semis and finals. This would take about a month... but I'm just throwing it out there.
