Tocchet Leaving Colorado?
As much as Granato gets the blame...I have always though Tocchet was much worse...so
Tocchet to pursue other coaching options TSN.ca Staff 6/23/2004 Colorado Avalanche assistant coach Rick Tocchet says he's considering other options, which might include a head coaching position with another team, according to the Denver Post. Tocchet, who joined the Avalanche in Jaunary 2003, indicated he likely won't be back for the final year of his contract due to philosophical differences with head coach Tony Granato. "Things will be settled, one way or the other, by the draft (this weekend)," Tocchet tells the Post, adding that Granato is a "great guy" despite their differences. General manager Pierre Lacroix has already confirmed that Granato will be back for a second season behind the Colorado bench next year. Tocchet says he has not spoken with anyone about another coaching position but admits his goal is to be an NHL head coach. The Arizona Republic reports he may be a candidate for the vacant head coaches job with the Phoenix Coyotes. An Avalanche spokesperson says no team has requested permission to speak with Tocchet but the club would not stand in the way of any assistant with a chance to advance within another organization. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=88660 |

Makes sense seeing as how Granato and Tocchet were seen in a hissy fit outside their offices a few times last season.

I could see Tocchet in Pittsburgh, since Mollken is heading back to the WHL.

They should dump both of them and get a real coaching staff.

Actually, I heard that Granato and Tocchet were going to switch places with Kariya and Selanne for a year to see how that worked out.

We should of never fired Hartley. He was a magnificent coach, in my opinion that is.

letting Hartley go was such an awesome move for the rest of the NHL. Even letting Crawford go (at the time) was stupid.
Lacroix's ego is so ginormous its clouding his judgement. Either that or the nude photos he took that he hoped no one would ever find, somehow wound up in Granato's hands... |
