So I guess the difference between Ovechkin and Malkin is too big for the Pens. And isn't Tarnstrom their only offensive d-man? I really don;t know much about them, so I may be wrong.

You can't just make up rumors and post them here as fact. Pittsburgh is quite content to pick Malkin. If for whatever reason Pittsburgh decides to make a trade it'll be to move down, they won't be getting number 1.
