Danson's Edmonton Oilers Franchise
i've been reading Cole's for a while and i have started playing the game again and thought why not start a Franchise story with the Oilers a team i am partial to.I won't have boxscores and stuff because that will make me lose interest way to fast so i'll update every few days when i can.
This is the Freeware EHM with the rosters as of the start of the 2004-2005 season which was locked out. My settings are: Auto-Sim Speed:200 Scoring Speed: 135 Penalty Frequency:100 Fighting Frequency:120 Injury Frequency:110 Trade Difficulty:200 Much like Mizu's and Cole's i will have a salary cap at the moment it will be around 44-45 million with my current budget sitting at 42 million. __________________

Offseason Trades and Signings Prior to 2004-2005 season :
Signed: Félix Potvin has signed a $3,000,000 per year, 2 year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. Detailed terms of the deal were not announced. A native of Canada, Félix Potvin was originally drafted to the NHL by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2nd round of the 1990 entry draft. He has appeared in 635 NHL games during his career, booking 32 career shutouts and allowing 1694 goals. The 33 year old goaltender is expecting a good season for the team. Potvin has always been a awesome player in my books and he will help hold the number one spot whilst Markannen develops a bit he will split alot of the duties but will be the prefered number one for the moment. Traded: Edmonton Oilers traded Ty Conklin to Carolina Hurricanes for CAR's round 1 pick in 2005 A native of USA, Ty Conklin, was originally signed as a free agent to the NHL. He has appeared in 42 NHL games during his career, booking 1 career shutouts and allowing 88 goals. The 28 year old goaltender is looking forward for the start of the season. I was offered this trade and Conklin never really performs when i have him and Carolina need a reasonable starter whilst Gerber and Ward develop a bit. Oilers Pre-Season: The Oilers went undefeated in the Preseason winning 8 out of 8 games pretty comfortably.Potvin played good in all four of his starts and Markkanen despite winning his four games struggled to keep the goals out.Smyth and Brewer were the best players in Pre-Season with probably the best side playing in all games. Waiver draft came and we picked up Henrik Tallinder off the Sabres who kinda surprised me in letting him go. He will probably play on the lower defensive pairs coming in and out of the minors here and there, could be used in a future trade. Season starts in 13 days and The Media rated who they see as the NHL's Best players, Not one Oiler was selected, I see it as a good thing mainly because we have no players who are in the same spotlight this season like the guys below. In the next few days hopefully i'll have the first couple of months simmed. ![]() October Edition 2004 -------------- October saw the season start and the Oil finished the month witha 2-0 win over their Alberta rivals the Flames. The two teams played three times in October the Oilers winning all three times pretty comfortably. The NHL standings see the Oilers sitting fifth with five wins, two losses, one tie and eleven points. The Oilers are three points behind the Red Wings and are thrid in their Divison behind the top of the table Canucks and second place Colorado Avalanche. I'm predicting that we will have to work our asses off to win the divison which i don't see us doing due to the lack of superstars on our roster which the Avs and Canucks have. The best players for the month were Ryan Smyth who is looking good with with 7 points in 8 games. Mike York is also playing well with with 9 points whilst Todd Harvey is looking red hot with a 6 game point streak having 6 points in 8 games. The stand out so far is Ales Hemsky who leads us with four goals and six assists totalling ten points. Félix Potvin is doing a good job in net with a 4-2-1 record and a .892 save percentage. Jussi Markkanen has started one game this month which was a shutout against the Flames on the 30th in Calgary. Down on the farm The Roadrunners sit atop the AHL standings with a 7-0-1 record. This month will probably be make or break for us with the most important games being when we meet Colorado and Detroit which will show if we can beat the best or if we can only be at those below and those equal. __________________

![]() November Edition 2004 ------------------- November saw the Oilers having to prove themselves against the NHL's better teams in the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche. The Oilers played each team twice this month with the Wings winning their first game in Detroit 5-3. The next game would see the two teams tie it up at 3-3 thanks to a Zachery Stortini final period goal. The Avs beat the Oilers twice in November by two goals respectivley each time. The month was dissapointing for fans as the Oils dropped from fifth to eleventh thanks to a record of 5-7-1 for the month with dissapointing losses to teams such as Nashville and Buffalo two teams lower in the standings. Despite having a somewhat dissapointing month the Oilers blooded some new talent in young former Sudbury Wolves captain Zackery Stortini. Stortini was drafted by the Oils in the 3rd round of the 2003 NHL draft at 94th overall. Stortini has played six games posting two goals and two assist for four points which has been surprising for his teammates like Oilers star Ryan Smyth "Zack is an amazing player he is only starting out but he has already been impressing the higher powers that be and he has also impressed myself. I say good luck to him" Stortini and Smyth will lead the Oilers into battle for the month of december starting with a home game against the Montreal Canadiens. __________________
