NHL:EHM, Road to the NHL (as a GM)

I decided to do the Fhockey NHL:EHM Challange (from the Fhockey forums), just minus having to sign a player & staff member from a former team when you found a new/higher rep team/laeague to GM in.

i've already played 3 seasons, in the Danish Super Best League, as GM of the Herning IK Blue Fox). so let me catch you up on what happened the first 3 years

1st season I won the Danish League Cup, finished first in the Danish Superbest League standings & were the Danish Super Best League Winners


2nd & 3rd seasons same story, except just finished 2nd in the Danish Super Best League standings, but won the Danish League Cup & Super Best League championship.



the latter half of the 3rd season the fans called for my resignation, because they were unhappy with my performance as GM the board had mixed reviews on my performances they listened to the fans & said I was doing a poor job, I won a few games in a row then they said I had their full confidence and support and it continued that way into the first 7 games into the 4th season, where I had 5 wins a loss and a OT/Shootout win and no OT losses, but after my latest/first loss of the season, a 5-2 loss to the 5th place AaB IShockey team (disappointing yes, but reason to get fired, I don't think so), but yeah, i've been fired by Herning AK


My GM stats up to this point

Players acquired - 39 (24,000 UK/pound sterling)
players shipped out - 1 (Franz Nielson, who was signed by the NYI)


my world reputation is 809 and is "Ok" (Easily the top in Denmark, where my reputation is "good".

my GM points 22,378

I was with the Herning IK Blue Fox Organization for 1126 days & lead ALL GM's with 6 cups won, and the best match record at 138 wins/183 games
the 2nd best is Rostislav Kudrna of Pardubice, winning 145 of 201 games.



not sure how often i'll update it, but i'll see as I go along....hopefully I can find another job...



but if anyone knows, what affects the "popularity with fans"? I won all 6 cups in the Danish league that were competed for in the 3 seasons I was there, I brought in good young talent, there were still some danish players on the team (13 of 30 players on the roster were from Denmark)

I also hired Stan Smyl as my head coach mid-way through the 2nd season, and has done a pretty darn good job, none of the players were unhappy with the coach, but there were a few players who wanted to leave the team to a bigger team to further their career, I let a couple go, denied a few requests (if they were key players to the team, I let 2 key players go though), I played down to just 1 player, when they were praised in the media, he was unhappy for a bit, but got over it in time, a couple players also reacted badly to it too, but it was fine. anyways, i'll keep simming, and keep you updated if there is any news.



Edit: I started from the 2003/2004 season, so the 2004 draftees are not on their NHL-Counterpart NHL teams. unfortunately I realized that when I was in the 2nd season & I didn't want to start over, not that it'll really make a big difference, but just thought i'd mention it.

Also, I was let go on October 6th 2006.

could it have been a blessing in disguise? the Edmonton Oilers board of directors just fired Kevin Lowe as GM, i've applied for the job, I know I won't get it, since my reputation isn't as high as i'd need it to be, but it doesn't hurt to apply :)

you guys will NEVER guess who they (the Edmonton Oilers) hired as GM.....

i'll give you a hint..he led all players in points in the 2003/2004 campain, won the hart trophy, Lester B. Pearson Award & shared the Bud Light Plus/Minus Award.

if you guessed Martin St. Louis...you guys are right!! Yup, Martin St. Louis, is the newest Oilers GM at the ripe age of 31 years old, he didn't have a contract this season despite coming off a 50 goal, 40 assist, 90 point campaign with the T-Bay Lightning.

That shouldn't happen. Have you patched the game? By the way what version are you playing 2004 or 2005?

You should patch the game (although it's recommended that you start over after doing so).

I'm confused however, this was a problem we had with last years game. You also mentioned that you were playing the 03-04 season. Are you using EHM:FE or NHL EHM 2005?

is it strongly reccomended, unless I can't find another job in the next season or 2, i'd hate to have to start over after putting in 3 seasons, winning 6 danish cups (& putting over 5 full days worth of simming..)....but if I can't get another GM job, looks like i'll have to start over.

EHM:FE. and I believe that's when the game started, cause the 2004 draftees aren't on their counter-part NHL teams (for ex. Ovechkin was selected 2nd overall in my franchise by Columbus, instead of first overall by Washington as in real life.) and Pouliot was drafted 22nd overall in 2003 (as it says in my franchise)

Ahh yes, ok, that was fixed. You can download 1.07 and that should fix a variety of problems. It will also shore up the database which wasn't pretty at release last year. ;)

Thank you BigE!! :) downloading the patch as we speak, I just need to download the one patch & it'll fix all problems too from what were included in the previous packages, correct?
