cb's Calgary Flames Franchise (EHM 1.18)

After being inspired by Danson's Edmonton Oilers Franchise and Cole's Washington Capitals Franchise I decided to start playing the classic version of EHM again.
As Danson already picked "my Oils" I had to find another team I could lead to Stanley Cup. I chose the Calgary Flames because I wanted to play a Canadian team and as I think it is more challenging than playing with Toronto, Ottawa, the Habs or the Canucks.

Nickname:
Named after the famous fire of Atlanta started by General William Tecumseh Sherman in 1864 destroying the key southern city of Atlanta, which was considered the beginning of the end of the Civil War. Upon moving to Calgary the team would keep the name after a fan poll suggested they keep their name for the city's oil industry.

29-6-2004 Calgary Flames trade
Calgary Flames traded Martin Gélinas, Roman Turek and CGY's round 3 pick in 2005 to Detroit Red Wings for Pavel Datsyuk

A native of Russia, Pavel Datsyuk was originally drafted to the NHL by the Detroit Red Wings in the 6th round of the 1998 entry draft. He has appeared in 209 NHL games during his career, notching 53 goals and adding 101 assists along with 55 penalty minutes. The 25 year old center is expecting a good season for the team.

I needed a 1st Line Center so badly so the Red Wings got Gelinas since with Marcus Nilson, Ville Nieminen and Chris Simon I still have some decent lefties. Giving Turek away was actually a good thing as I lowered my budget to 40 million. My salary cap is at 45 million. I think overall this was a good deal for me, especially if you look at the first performances by my 1st line.

Datsyuk led the league in points with 14 (5G, 9A) and helped the team to reach an impressive 7-1 record in the pre-season. We only lost to the Avs (0-3). This looks pretty promising for the upcoming season which will start with a match against the Detroit Red Wings. Wonder how Datsyuk will perform :)

He has appeared in 1457 NHL games during his career, notching 680 goals and adding 1046 assists along with 906 penalty minutes. The 39 year old center has played 4 games with the Detroit Red Wings this season, totalling 2+3=5 with 0 PIM.

Uh well.. comments? Detroit with Lang and Draper left on the C position after losing Yzerman and Datsyuk.

seen the Wings trade Yzerman, in any EHM game. That's over 30 franchises. O_O
