I'm currently practicing my bass guitar so that I may play with my neighbor down the road. He plays drums. Jazzy maybe. I don't really have a style, yet.

Anyway, do any of you play?

Guitar Hero and Rock Band count. But only by 1/2.

Here's a good song on the bass guitar:

I took guitar lessons as a kid, didn’t get too into it until I met some friends in high school who were very talented and inspired me to play more punk and metal music for fun. I taught myself how to play harmonica during Covid and really love it.

I used to play a Flute in my early Teenage years. But no, I was never good at it and to this day, I have no desire to play any instruments.

I used to play the piano. It was really admirable because it took me to a place that’s hard to reach when I hit the notes right.

Guitar. Not a whole lot anymore, but I take it out once in a while. Still have all the gear from my garage band days.

Drums. Tried to get a punk rock band going too, back in my twenties, but every time we got a decent bass guitarist he'd flake out and never show up to another practice.

Still have a kit, and occasionally jam with one of my friends, or my brother, both of which are fairly good guitarists. It was actually a pretty good outlet for being cooped up during covid.

Nice. I watch a lot of videos about synths and follow the tech closely, but I can't afford to get into hardware synths as a hobby. :(

What kind of synths do you play?

@sancho_panzer: I got rid of most of my stuff, I used to be kind of addicted to buying gear. Still regret selling some of the stuff but alas.

Right now I have a MS20, which is a lot of fun to play along with some pedals.

Some smaller stuff I kept too, like the korg monotron synths (the Monotron Delay is a beast, super cheap too). The Pocket Operator Rhythm. A weird looking mini drum machine that sounds really good.

Ah also kept a Venom. It looks kinda shit but it's actually a very fun synth to mess with. But you have to use a computer to really have access to what makes it great. An hidden gem imo.

The thing is that as the years pass I find it more enjoyable and productive to use the computer for most of the work. It can get boring dealing with a ton of physical gear when you can save time and money just by using a computer.

Guitar, bass, synthesizers, and drums. I'm best at guitar.

Synths and drums are a newer hobby, so I need more practice.

I was learning to play guitar, but for maybe 4-5 months now, I just noodle something for five minutes or play some song on acoustic to not get too much rusty and call it a day. I do know your basic open chords, suspended chords, basic seventh chords, can move more or less freely E shaped barre chords, can easily switch between two finger power chords on any part of the neck (three finger version is another matter), and can play a couple of songs as per the record.

learned piano as a child, was ok but not dedicated enough to practice regularly.
