What are you up to? Probably nothing if you live outside the US.

Not much. Just hitting the gym and seeing relatives. To be honest, this month has been the worst and I am still recovering mentally.

Taking a nice four-day weekend to do some late-spring/early-summer cleaning.

I've got way too many clothes and not enough space for them, so I'm sorting it all and taking what I don't need to Goodwill.

Then getting rid of a bunch of crap I don't need/use anymore. I'm not a hoarder, but at the same time I do tend to hold on to things I think have some sort of practical value....so I guess I am a hoarder? But it's not like in the clinical mentally ill sense 😉No I'm not in denial YOU"RE IN DENIAL SHUT UP DON'T THROW THAT AWAY AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!

Nothing like a good grill session with family and/or friends.

Question is, though: propane, or charcoal?

Yeah so I'm curious about that: do non-Americans celebrate American holidays the way Americans celebrate non-American holidays? For example, I am a big fan of St Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc.

We here in the US like to take pride in being a "melting pot" of cultures, races, and nationalities (well, most of us do...the good ones, at least 😋) but we aren't the only country that has a diverse population.

Would it be weird to see an American expat celebrating 4th of July in England?

I’m not saying this doesn’t happen, but who wakes up on Memorial Day and actually observes it? I’ve yet to meet anyone. It’s typically, “I gotta go to the bank and pick up some groceries…. Oh. It’s Memorial Day, the banks closed. Such an inconvenience.”

The news and morning shows will remind you what the day is, but does it ever go any further than that? For any holiday, really.

The lady and I are going to the lake. She's got a new bathing suit I haven't seen yet.

Bathing suits are kinda my fetish.

Not me. If I see any veterans I know I might say something but that's usually something I do on Veteran's Day.

I'm sure survivors of deceased veterans might observe it?

Uh most people are aware of why it's celebrated. I'm not sure what you want them to do about it though. Cartwheels in the street?

@LJS9502_basic: I’m not expecting anything, I’m just saying that it’s not really observed. Knowing what the day is about isn’t the same as observing, and granted not everyone cares. I don’t observe any holiday, I couldn’t care less. They’re all an inconvenience for me, personally. I respect some holidays, like for our Vets, but I can respect them in person whenever I see them and not one particular day.

Nothing special. Just go to work for half an hour and go home to play games all day long.

Worked today.

Had the bacon & cheese bratwurst burger w/tomato & pizza sauce, a small bad of Funyuns, and a couple of Ultimate Cheddar Doritos & Pretzel Cheddar Combos snacks for supper. Had key lime pie ice cream afterwards.

Didn’t really do much special, though, except the meal.

Just worked my ass off most of the weekend, spent the day at the beach yesterday and finished it off at a ribfest which was nice. Back on the grind today though.

Sorry to hear that, bro. Keep pushing through recovery.

OT: Not much. Went to Lowe's to get some stuff for a project, ended up stopping at Bonefish for some drinks and appetizers.

bunch of BBQs this weekend.

btw, when did memorial day become july 4th 2.0?? used to be more low key other than maybe a small parade or something. now it's wall to wall flags and fireworks and red white blue everywhere.

I got an MRI scheduled this week, I went twice before to try it but had claustrophobic reaction to the chamber and couldn't do it. Scheduled this one for an open MRI machine but the facility I scheduled with suggested doing a dry run with this MRI machine to help alleviate any anxiety or manage it, so I went in on the Monday holiday and I gotta say it definitely helped. I think the open MRI machine helps with the claustrophobia being open at the sides definitely helps a lot. I got my scan in a couole days, I'll also be given liquid valium to help with any anxiety so fingers crossed I get it done this time.

I don't consider myself claustrophobic but damn something about the previous machines created a really bad reaction with me. It was so damn tight and scary. Even Uma Therman had more room in her coffin when curied alive in Kill Bill.

I've had a few but had the opposite reaction. I find it very comfortable in there.
