Congratulations, American workers! Are you working hard or hardly working?

That also means a three day weekend. Woohoo! I'm going to read a shitload of comics and hangout with my bro.

What are you doing for your weekend?

(I wonder if someone will be jet skiing.)

Nothing special, because the rest of the world celebrates the actual 1st May date derived from the history of the US Labour movement.

Not sure why the US celebrates in September.

Also, I like the term three day weekend. In The UK, they're known as bank holidays, for some miserable reason

I’m still going to work, grocery stores don’t close 99% of the time here in Canada. At least I’m getting paid double time for the hours I work. Sometimes it pays to be Unionized workers.

@brimmul777: I feel you. Working for an international corporation, I also had to waive my right to a guaranteed day off on national holidays. At least Polish Labour law is pretty well advanced and gives me a day off in lieu.

Don't all employees get overtime pay for working national holidays? I think that's standard throughout Europe.

@sancho_panzer: Yeah I guess extra pay on holidays is standard but not sure if my union somehow got extra stat pay for us union workers? Some positions at my place aren’t unionized and don’t get stat benefits. Not quite sure on how or what benefits my union has fight for us unionized? We have quite a few benefits for my work,I would have to look into it.

@brimmul777: Ah, that's pretty cool then.

Poland is so sweet for labour laws that I've never felt the need to join any unions. Historically, that's generally credited to the Solidarity trade union movement, which played a huge part in ending communist rule here and beyond. Funny how that works out.

Labor Day is just another regular day to me and I don't do anything on that day. Gotta work this Labor Day anyway.

We're jet skiing at the Ozarks this weekend. Fish fry with a bunch of buddies tonight on the dock, and boating tomorrow.

I got a three-day weekend myself. The company I work for pretty much gives all holidays off.

Gonna go to a local Mexican restaurant with my dad and his friend on Labor Day.

Got to have bratwurst on the grill at work yesterday for lunch, which was nice, too.

This is the first long weekend I haven’t had to work in almost 2 years. Went to a pre release on Friday night for the new Magic: The Gathering set which was fun, played some Baldurs Gate 3 yesterday (still trying to figure out how everything works in the game), and just rode my motorcycle to the beach today, pretty good if I do say so myself lol.

So I actually lost my job at at the beginning of the month, and I went to Universal Studios the 24th through the 31st so I've been off work all month lol which means I don't have anything planned for tomorrow, but we've been touring Harry Potter World, plus the other parts of the two parks for the last week.

That said, before our trip, I secured a new position which is set to start on the day after labor day. Even better, I have an interview for a much better paying job on Wednesday and I was told all the other candidates were rejected in the phone interview process. So I'm obviously hoping that the second job comes through, and I have high hopes that it will.

I'm a Federale, so I have off.

Playing Starfield all weekend as a UC lackey (so not much different than real life)

I'm lucky, I work four-day work weeks, so I get a four day weekend since we get it off :D

As for what I am doing? Staying home. Seriously, screw holiday traffic. Would rather just get together with people some other day.

I've been enjoying the UC mission line (and Starfield as a whole!) a lot. Most of the missions have been fun, but the UC mission has been one of the more "epic" so far.

Yup! For as much as people rag on money during Christmas, Labor Day is MUCH worse in my opinion.

They're bad at english over there, that lot lolool

OT: I was to have the day off, but a coworker had some property damage to tend to so I had to work a couple of hours in order to cover for them.
