So, the DSA is not very good at money management, layed off A LOT of union workers too.

Socialist Call

The political group which carries membership of people like the Squad, announced they have a major deficit.

But it gets better...

Like... damn! While I don't bask in workers losing jobs like this, in the DSA as the organization's sake? Can't say they didn't deserve it with the apologia (like anti-Ukrainian sentiments and blaming the US for Russia's attacks) they've been platforming.

@nintendoboy16: socialists might be dumb asf when it comes to money management or economics in general.

But they aren't wrong for being critical of the US funding proxy wars around the globe.

Still funny tho

I am not familiar with this organization. Do they rely on donations and grants and such? I'm wondering if their various stances just got too extreme, and donors refused to donate.

I have a friend that works in the grant business and they have seen a HUGE decrease in donations because people don't want to be seen donating to certain colleges or organizations associated with certain people.

Just out of morbid curiosity, I went to Google who the f*** this "DSA" even is.

Lol. Capitalism wins again.

Now excuse me while I pop my monocle back on and chuckles heartily over a nice glass of Champagne.

@madrocketeer: Me too, but looking at this I can see why nobody knows anything about them:

With such low significance, I'm surprised it's even a topic of discussion. At this point, anything anyone says about them can only elevate their profile I guess. The numbers are so low it's impossible for them to have any impact so I don't understand any focus on them.

Maybe OP is out of touch, or this is their own morbid curiosity showing, or crying wolf. IDK.

Like I said, they have prominent members in office. The Squad (AOC, Tlaib, Ilhan, etc) being among them.

@nintendoboy16:

Sorry, maybe it's just me, but I find it comical, if not outright dystopian, that politicians can be so well-known as to be treated like celebrities; even forming groups like "The Squad" as if we're talking about some kind of rock band.

At best, it's just ridiculous; they're supposed to be legislating for your interests, not posing for press photo-ops. At worst, you are giving a bunch of mediocre flesh-bags who barely know more shit than you do way too much power and influence to f*** shit up.

Man, this is why I don't vote and don't believe in "democracy."

No, it's not just you lol.

It's funny, people afraid of "communists" like "The Squad" when we have folks like MTG, Boebert, Mike Johnson, and folks that think if democracy no longer serves Christianity then we shouldn't be a democracy any more.

And of course blowing this whole DSA thing out of proportion. OH THIS IS THE LORD'S WRATH! THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN! DIRTY COMMUNIST CAN'T RUN A BUSINESS!

You should vote, though. Democracy works but only if we work for it.

Yeesh...

Heh. My experience since 2008 has been that there are a lot of people who have no fucking clue what "socialism" or "communism" even is - and I say that as a staunch capitalist. I tend to laugh at and ignore such people.

That's the thing, I don't believe "democracy," or as I like to derisively call it, "dumb accounting sport wrapped over a legislative majoritarian regime," works. It is a cripplingly flawed system that is destined to devour itself, something I've witnessed first hand. When you constantly tell someone you're special and everyone should listen to you, sooner or later you're not going to take "no" for an answer, and you're going to tear the whole thing apart over it. It is a base human flaw.

As I said before, I've long concluded that the weakest link and fatal flaw of every system is the human factor, and that humans simply shouldn't be allowed to govern themselves.

Yup! The flag-waving anti-socialist nationalists will at the same time declare socialism one of the world's greatest evils, while also proudly saluting our armed service members which are arguably the most socialist aspect of our country (in addition to emergency services, utility workers, various law agencies, state and national park services, NASA, and...)

Capitalism and socialism might be at different ends of the spectrum, but they're not mutually exclusive; we can have both, in balance.

lol socialism. It never works because people are inherently reward seeking at the biological level. If there is no incentive, people won't work or produce any thing meaningful to society in general. With that said, capitalism is also flawed..with all these companies profiting off of peoples poor health, by selling them junk food, or the horrific social media addiction, not to mention the hard drug epidemic, excess video games, or developers and microtransactions in games, advertising to kids, the over sexification of young children and so on and on. Socialism is bad because it will lead to widespread poverty and starvation. But on the other hand, the type of capitalism we have now is a fucking disaster. These shady companies need to be fined equal to the damage they're causing society. Just to start, I'd fully be on board with a massive sugar tax, and funnel every cent into our health care system.
