With the doping allegations against him, I wouldn't want to be one of his competitors...he's leaving everyone in the dust this year.

He's always had allegations, and from what I understand the new book is absolutely malarkey, but you're right. He was pissed at the last press conference. Talked right at the author.

Ulle is coming on good form. The bastard. Heras switched teams, hopefully that won't lose Lance help in the mountains. Beltran did more work last year to my memory, but Roberto is such an insane climber. I'm not expecting much from Mayo, just good mountain stages like last Tour. Tyler Hamilton. If Lance loses, I really hope he wins. Good man. No Vino or Beloki :(. Am I missing anyone? Basso? Leipheimer?

Well, I guess I'll bump this with some updates...

Lance is now 9 and a half minutes back, as a result of yesterdays excellent

. There are 5 ahead of him, none who pose any threat in the mountains, though Sandy Casar might possible be able to manage the Yellow Jersey for a stage or two before the gap implodes. Don't count on that, though.

Iban Mayo lost 4 minutes after a fall in one of the flat stages, so expect him to go all out in the mountains. I don't he think he was injured... It'll make him the perfect leadout for everyone else, but look for a stage or two from him.

Everyone else is about where they should be. Tyler is half a minute behind Lance, Ulle and Levi are about a minute away. Heras is under two minutes away, but he'll be doing as much damage as possible in the mountains.

So far, so good. Lot's of crashes, some good sprints, some unfortunate withdrawals. The mountains will be good. Discuss.

Nice to see that Bäckstedt is up there, but he will of course drop when they come to the mountain climbing.

Yeah, but he's made a terrific start none the less. He's been steadily improving. Hope he can finish the tour.

Sorry to say, guys, but Maggie is done this tour; he dropped out today. Must have run out of gas on that monster stage yesterday.

The mountains get going tomorrow. Lance may or may not attack, that may depend on Ulle and the other Americans. He'll more than likely have to defend against Roberto and Iban, though...Next few days will be awesome.
