Poll Will Wildstar be a success and above average MMO? **POLL** (21 votes)

Yes 33%
No 43%
No Idea 24%

From what I understand it's a lot of the same devs from vanilla WoW and it appears that they are putting a lot into the endgame.

Curious what you guys think....I have not played it yet so I have no idea.

I think it'll be above average. It feels like vanilla WoW but at the same time the combat system is completely different. The PvP is also excellent, which is why I mainly play MMOs.

Has the major advantage of focusing on more difficult and rewarding end-game content. Dungeons and Raids worth doing multiple times. PvP looks great too.

I don't mind themeparks but most end up being shallow with no content to do once you hit end game. Seems that the focus of Wildstar is to keep all content challenging by doing more than just increasing stats. That should help the entire game be less boring.

The PvP looks quite excellent. The Warplots could be a lot of fun and the scale will make everything feel just a bit more exciting.

I want to see the new models because honestly I can't stand to play for that reason....10 years looking at the same models is just not working anymore.

Lots more exist.

Doesn't really bother me since you are generally zoomed out pretty far. But it's great though I guess.

I do wish they would redo the sound effects though. The actual music, as we know, is first class. But stuff like the NPC's voice assets are really shitty. Likewise the sound effects are reused over a lot with little variation.

So do you get your instant 90 as soon as you preorder or do you have to wait until it launches?

No idea, I got my key off some website (since the actual price of the expansion borders on extortion on Blizzards site).

Being the absolutely greedy assholes they are though, you can buy a $40 instant level up in the "in game shop". Along with expensive pets and mounts. It's pretty fucking ridiculous.

People still play WoW? I used to love that game but now it feels dated a LOT and like you're playing a game from the early 90s. Other MMOs that have come after it just do things better now. On top of that, WoW is easier than playing Facebook games now.

They were. Some of the best movies, games and music came from the 90s. And WoW was awesome back then. Now I just can't enjoy it cause it feels dated, too easy, too casual and the community has gone down the drain. Sad but I guess it happens to everything.

I have to say as well, while many of the quest lines are "kill X of these". Some of the chained quests are actually really, really good if you follow them. IMO more fun and better writing (deliberately designed to be short and accessible) than anything in Elder Scrolls.

Just yesterday I came across as caravan quest. And it chained up into a wonderful set of quests that had a great little story arc.

If the quests are like every other MMO then honestly the combat isn't going to save it. Don't bore the shit out of the players errands.

You really don't. WoW has never killed a newly released game. Also, many people don't play WoW.

Well I just played it, loved it.

Didn't play long and it needs polish for sure but it reminds me a lot of vanilla WoW for sure.

It looks like banal, uninspired, forgettable trash that is trying way too hard to be funny.

I hope it ends up being good, but the path system seems like a waste of resources (and nobody seems to like it either), the manual dodging looks to be as bad as it has always been, the races look uninspired, the visuals bland, the classes even blander, and the roles are still the same old overplayed tank/healer/damage dealer... sigh.

Only positive thing I see coming from this game is that there seems to be some emphasis on endgame and not blowing away the entire budget on making a good first impression and voice overs.

Edit: Looking at combat footage. I saw no mana or any other form of meaningful resource management, and enemies would use choreographed moves that would paint the floor red saying where the attack will hit making said attack nothing more than a check to see if you are asleep or not... sigh.
