Hey, I was messing on my computer like 5 minutes ago, my CPU is a athlon dual Core 3800+ 2.0Ghz. So when you go to control panel and click on System on the general page it tells you the type of machine and the CPU speed and stuff. Usually it correctly says 2.01Ghz, but when I looked before it has changed to 1.0Ghz...............what does that mean, is there a CPU problem or something, my computer doesnt seem slower and when I did a CPU speed test it came up as the same reading it always does around 2000mhz, so should I be worried?

You probably have AMD's cool and quiet technology turned on. It downclocks the cpu to save power and reduce heat. It should upclock as soon as it's needed but if you want maximum performance you can turn it off (in your bios).

BIOS= basic input output system (i think) you enter bios by clicking DEL at the bios splash screen when starting your computer, the screen that counts your memory and checks hardware ect. look for the documentation that came with your Motherboard or PC for exact instructions on how to turn it off.

Cool, I had a computer guy round like 10 minutes ago and he said that it was likely the same thing, surely if there was a CPU power problem then it wouldnt even start etc, its just strange that when you click on the system settings on control panel that the Ghz is changing frequently, it usually changes between 2.01, 1.83 and 1.0Ghz, do you think its anything to worry about? My computer isnt really going slow or anything.
