Yes. They are pretty cheep used these days, online and PSN will be supported at least for the foreseeable future, and the system has a ton of great games. Tell us what genres you are into and I will give some more recommendations, but for now, here are some of my favorite exclusives:

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (Apocalypse is good to, but PR is the best)

Twisted Metal

Starhawk

God of War 3

Infamous

Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time

Yes buy it, especially if you haven't played any games on it yet. Uncharted: Drake's fortune is really good, the Infamous games are really good and have good gameplay. All the Resistance games are fun. The Call of Duty games are fun on the PS3. GTA IV is a really good game and probably a good game to get with the console. Metal Gear Solid 4 is also a really good game and a great experience. Little Big Planet is a good game and it's a unique game exclusive to Sony platforms.

Definitely, lots of great games and in 2021 super cheap, plus you get a excellent bluray player with it.

I would recommend Heavenly Sword, Ni No Kuni, Heavy Rain, Dead Space 1 and 2, Killzone 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution to name a few to get you started. :)

Although not all, some of the big hitters have been ported to PS4 and are MUCH better on it. Additionally, the PS3 store is being shut down and online has largely been discontinued for games (always exceptions). So IMO, it doesn't hold its value as an old system the way the PS2 did/does. I'd be more inclined to recommend getting it only if it is very cheap and only if you can find physical SP games you can't get ports of on PS4.

Maybe and I'd recommend Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, Last Of Us, Uncharted series.

Basic answer to a basic question. If you added more stuff like what games you like, what you'd be owning a PS3 for etc etc then you'd get a better answer.

If you can find a fat early PS3 model then definitely yes, for backwards compatibility with both PS1 and PS2 games. Otherwise I guess it just depends on what games you want to play..personally I much prefer the last (PS4) gen over that era, but different strokes and all that..

Yup. Check out MGS4, Uncharted 1-3, Tony Hawk, Bioshock, Infamous, Resistance, GTA IV, and Street Fighter IV.

Depends on the scenario. If I was going back that far I'd rather get a handheld. PS3 is a solid system and imo it's blueray player works better than on PS4. As far as games I'd recommend:

- Uncharted 1-3

- God of War 3

- Metal Gear Solid 4

- Valkyria Chronicles

- The Tales of Series (There are a whole bunch on PS3 like Xillia 1 & 2, Zestiria, Symphonia Chronicles, and Graces)

- Skyrim (Not the best version but I still had fun with it for hundreds of hours)

- Final Fantasy XIII (Ignore the naysayers. Try it yourself.)

- The Last of Us

- Red Dead Redemption

- Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City (Better than GTA IV imo)

- Tekken Tag Tournament 2

- Infamous 1 & 2 with Festival of Blood DLC

- Grand Theft Auto V

- Tomb Raider

- Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

- Eternal Sonata

- Army of Two
