“If Democrat voters choose to flee these blue states where they cannot tolerate the living conditions, they don’t want their children taught these horrible things, and they really change their mind on the types of policies that they support, well once they move to a red state, guess what, maybe you don’t get to vote for five years,” Greene said to Charlie Kirk, conservative pundit and founder of the conservative student organization Turning Point USA. “You can live there, and you can work there, but you don’t get to bring your values that you basically created in the blue states you came from by voting for Democrat leaders and Democrat policies.” Charlie Kirk prompted the question after accusing Democrats of “invading” red states, allegedly due to a nefarious goal to corrupt Republican states with “progressive” policies.

People are balking at this being "horrible" and "obviously unconstitutional" etc, but I would like to reframe this for people. For years we have watched republicans as they supported mask on attempts to disenfranchise democratic voters, voter id laws, incarcerating people of color, keeping those convicted of federal crimes from voting years after their release, etc.

This new suggestion from MTG is just another example of republicans trying to stop democrats from voting rather than supporting more popular issues to get their vote. It's just very mask off and hard to avoid just how illegal it is, and gives republicans who agree nothing to hide behind.

Thoughts, agree? Disagree? Why?

They've been mask off about it for a long time. Republican voters are, at best, "ok" with their party suppressing the voting power of people with different ideas. They've accepted it, if not embraced it.

That's funny since other than the tech and entertainment workers they are actively poaching, it's largely Republicans leaving blue states.

Stupid.

More population = more electoral votes, right? And from what I've read, it's mostly Republican voters leaving blue states for red states. So wouldn't you want these people to vote?

In either case, I hate that MTG is viewing Democrats as "the other", or the enemy. It's an extreme form of xenophobia when you can't even tolerate your own peers and countrymen, even if they have different politics than you.

lol right? That's what I thought as well.

Georgia in particular has a thriving film industry that actively poaches Hollywood talent (because Georgia is an anti-union state and stuff is cheaper to make there!). It's why on a lot of shows you see a peach and something about being made in Georgia.

This is just a woman bringing herself free publicity through controversy. What she is proposing is obviously not legal and would not be able to be enforced.

Republican traitors who make excuses for insurrectionists shouldn't even be allowed to live in the u.s., never mind work in govt or vote.

Republicans know they can't win a fair race when their ideas are practically unsellable. They add nothing new to modernize America with its modernize tech and economy.

Dems don't move to red states, so all she'd do is prevent reps to vote red it red states.

Who cares what this nutjob says about anything. Like with all attention seekers the best thing that can be done is to ignore her.

Indeed, Democrat politicians feed this troll by responding. They should never proactively say anything about her. And when asked by any reporter what they think of what she has said every single one of them should say simply: 'She is a nutjob and I don't pay attention to a single thing she says' and then walk away.

These people crave attention. Don't give it to them.

Who? That should be the answer.

Marge Greene doesn't want United States she wants divorced States.

She doesn't want a democracy. She wants to cut off ties with people she disagrees with and divorce them. The opposite of that is a democracy where disagreeing people come to a consensus.

So of course it doesn't surprise me to hear she wants to suppress voting in some form.

She wants a small federal government post divorce because she realizes woks blue state tax dollars are all that keeps a large number of red states from collapsing. Even then the economic heart of every red state is a blue city, whose citizens are likely to take the chance to leave to maintain their basic freedoms the Christian nationalists want to take away.

So she wants a divorce with alimony.

That’s another solid point, an awfully large number of people exiting big states like NY and Cali are Republican.

It's OK guys apparently MTG can't math good, so five years to her would be like...2024 if you moved now.

After all, she said we get about 6 billion immigrants and a college got a 1.5 billion dollar grant for diversity.

While crazy, it does bring up a phenomenon that is occurring.

Then again, with how liberal, to the point of libertine, the younger generations are becoming, the pendulum effect will keep this clown world train rolling.

I saw footage today where she struggled to read the number "1,524,481" out loud. She made a few attempts, got confused, and then gave up.

I'm honestly convinced she either doesn't understand basic maths, or she has some kind of reading impairment.

They're not that liberal by global standards.

Hell, Biden is a mid-right politician by most metrics.

US has a long, long, loooooooooong way to go before we're considered "liberal" or "libertine" lol. Also I hope you realize libertine is completely different from liberal 😋and how ludicrous it is to label the younger generations as such when they're fucking less than anyone.

Not trying to be a jerk to you but I always get a chuckle when people say the the democrats are liberal. Equal rights for people, separation of church and state, a common-sense economic policy, people over corporation, and healthcare for all, and a logic- and science-based system that overrides personal beliefs in matters of law and policy? Those are all very moderate.

The pendulum is swinging all right, but sadly it's swinging mid-right to far-right.

The Overton window in the United States of America is screwed up. Bernie Sanders is vilified along with AOC as ”communists” here, but would be regarded as middling centrists elsewhere. Only in the USA is taking care of your citizens considered an extreme position. Not as free as we think, (not even close to it) unhealthy, and unhappy. Go ’Mericuh numba 1 tho.
