This series... so strange, but gorgeous, wonderful sound, and challenging. We haven't seen an Ecco since the at-times-brutally-challenging 3D Dreamcast game (still beautiful to this day with a VGA adapter).

Am I the only on who misses this eccentric Sega franchise? What was your favorite in the series?

Not my favorite SEGA IP. It's hard, but even more so, it's creepy as shit.

Lol, this game was great back in the day. Very outside of the box.

That's the first time I ever heard of this game. Very interesting.

It's worth a play. It's pretty cheap to pick up as well.

Ecco the Dolphin was one of my favorite Sega CD games. I definitely recommend it if you are seeking ownership of a Sega CD.

@nyadc: Yes, it was the Sega CD version that I was thinking about, earlier. It has been a while.

I received Ecco as a gift when it was released, but never really got into it. The novelty and atmosphere (great sound!) struck me as exceptional at the time, but I guess I was just too ADD to make much progress.

Ecco Jr. was too easy, which makes the whole series a bit of a cruel joke.

Definitely, I remember wasting an awful lot of time just messing around in it rather than actually progressing through the game mind.

I was never actually GOOD at these games. They are hard. But I find the music, visuals, and theme captivating (if unusual) - it has staked out a claim in my heart even if I've had more success with other great series

I still enjoy these games. I have both games for my Sega Game Gear and beat the first on both GG and Gen. I beat the second on Gen as well. I also have the Dreamcast game that I beat. Very challenging games but a lot of fun as well.

I have the games on the genesis. I'd like to go back and play them someday.

I like the atmosphere of the Genesis ones(I remember a 3D one looking good but haven't played it myself, don't remember if it was Saturn or Dreamcast for sure but I think DC) but never actually finished any of them. I should go back and play them sometime.

I tried to beat the first one and got hopelessly lost. I've always wanted to return to Ecco. The games are very intriguing to me.

I feel like this sums them up - too intriguing to forget, but a bit too circuitous and difficult at times to feel like a master
