Atlanta Thrashers Dynasty

2005-2006 season

In their first game of the 05-06 season, Atlanta skated against division rivals, the Carolina Hurricanes. Minding the nets were Lehtonen and Gerber, for Atlanta and Carolina respectively. Heatley opened up scoring at 1:57. The rest of the period was pretty boring as Carolina outshot Atlanta 11-3 but were unable to get one past the Finnish Wizard, Kari Lehtonen.
In the 2nd period Malone (traded from pittsburgh in 04-05) scored at 14:34. Atlanta then scored again at 15:24 as Sidney Crosby (taken as free agent in 04-05) scored off of a pass from Tjarnqvist.
Carolina fought desperately to comeback in the third period but as the clock wound down it became quite clear that Lehtonen had no intention of letting Carolina score even one goal.
The first star was awarded to Kari Lehtonen who made 27 saves to get the shutout against Carolina.
The second star went to Dany Heatly who's goal early in the first period set the pace for Atlanta.
The third star went to Daniel Tjarnqvist who's pass to Crosby in the 2nd period put Atlanta up 3 - 0.

(Sorry for lack of details and screenies but I had to walk the dog and do a bunch of stuff while the game was playing itself out. I will try to get screens and maybe even highlights for the next update, and i will also post my roster and lines.

Game Notes:
Florida dominated play in the first and second periods. There passing game was superb while Atlanta's was pitiful. On most posessions, Atlanta skated up the ice without passing going straight for the goal but never got there as they were usually punished by the Florida defense. Dany Heatley is the prime example. Countless times Heatley skated up the ice hugging the boards not looking to even deke or pass or anything. He just skated and skated got hit, then skated back and repeated. His mind was obviously not in the game. Atlanta did have a few scoring opportunities in the 1st and 2nd but brilliant goaltending kept Atlanta from putting the puck in. On these few plays Atlanta weaved through traffic brilliantly playing the puck between forwards such as Marc Savard and Sidney Crosby but all in vain as they could not put the puck past Luongo.
The third period was a real turnaround for Atlanta as there was a noticable increase in agressiveness by all players. The Thrashers no longer waited for the puck to come to them, they chased the puck and its carriers all over the ice at Philips Arena. There efforts culminated in a goal by Kraft at 2:39 in the 3rd period. He was assisted by Havelid. Unfortunately just when the offense stepped up, the defense, and mainly the goalie, faltered. Hudler, assisted by Cairns and Globke, scored on Lehtonen at 4:08 with a shot that could have easily been blocked. Playing desperately, the Thrashers struck back at 14:28 as Malone scored on a pass from Perry. Unfortunately, history repeated itself and just minutes after scoring Kari Lehtonen let another easy one by. This time it was Trevor Linden scoring at 16:04 on a pass from Jokinen.
Visibly upset by Lehtonen's lack of effort, Atlanta's coach, Nigel Roberts, pulled Lehtonen from the game and put in Michael Garnett for the final minutes.
Though Atlanta's top two lines failed to do just about anything, the 3rd and 4th lines stepped up in tonight's game. Kraft scored for the second time in two games, and his linemate Malone scored as well.
Michael Garnett had a good showing for the about 3 minutes he played. If Lehtonen cant get his act together, look for Garnett to get alot more playing time.

Special Notes:
Sidney Crosby was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy in a ceremony prior to the game.

I made highlights for the game, but i have nowhere to host them, the file is like 4 megabytes... anyone that can host it for me?

yep, some images would be good and an overall introduction, a storyline, did you trade (obviously) where, when, why?
and if you don't have time because you walked the dog, don't post. it shows. :)
host images at photobucket.com or wherever.

keep it up, but make it more interesting. take a look at some other dynasties, there are some good examples.

Becaue of Fraps, it's horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE quality. Use Gamecam, you have to give up sound, but no sound and better quality is a lot better. Also, don't always use the replay highlights for goals... they look horrible ninety percent of the time. Also, not to be mean, but... those bored me, more or less because of the quality, and goal replays are impossible to see how they actually scored.

Edit: Geez, I certainly do sound like an ass.

no no I completely understand and thank you for your suggestions. I think I am going to use gamecam because I was unhappy with the sound anyways. I will just probly add a musical soundtrak in the backround. The next game is versus... uhhhh hmmm I cant remember but I will post highlights again.
