NHL 2005 cheating, glitch, something...

Interesting storyline I just went through in NHL 2005.

First of all... Why was I playing NHL 2005? Well, partially because I just did a Fantasy Draft in my Current Season and changed up a bunch of rules to see how it works. Obviously it's not a very good hockey sim so I just call it an "alternative ice game to hockey"

Anyways... I was Vancouver and I simmed a few games and played a few games... and I had a game against the Rangers just after the All-Star break. I usually only play Home games during the seasons so this happened to be one so I thought "hey, it's only the Rags so I'll play an easy one before I quit"...

So to shorten the story a bit.... basically... (and I don't know how)... the Rangers won! In overtime.... But it wasn't easy....(well it probably was because they cheat! )... because They were ahead 4-2 going into the 3rd period and I got a goal from Naslund to make it 4-3 and then a garbage goal from Tim Gleason to tie it up!...

Going into OT I thought I had them... Until Patrick Marleau steps in over the blue line... I'm all alone as the only D-man because the AI in that game is worse than real life 5 year olds. Anyways Marleau takes a slapper from just inside the blue line and it beats Nurminen. And they win.

So I was kinda mad about that.... So I went back to my calandar and simmed all the way to the next game vs. the Rags... and it was about 3 games before the Playoffs in New York.

So this one I started off good... got the first goal... Rangers eventually tied it but then I just kept firing shots at the net and the goals came! THEN I think it was right after I scored my 5th or 6th goal the next faceoff at center there was a GLITCH... The Rangers had 6 players on the Ice .. They actually had their Goalie out so it wasn't that much of a glitch except that their 6th man was standing on MY side of the red line ... anyways I win the faceoff... get it to their blue line.. see the open net.. go to take a shot... it's going in then .... CRASH! ... The game exits to my Desktop.

Seems like humans aren't the only ones who like to cheat in games.

haha anyways... that's my story.

Anyone else have funny or odd things like that happen to them?

I got one. I created a team and started a season with a fantasy draft. In a game, I was behind my net, with the puck. Then, there was a penalty call against my team, so because I got the puck, the play stopped. Then, the player who had the puck went about 2-3 feet outside the rink. After 2 sec, he slid straight, and fast, to the opposing blue line.

I didn't do anything bad. The game didn't crash, but it was funny. I had it on .avi, but I formated my PC and forgot to back it up :( Next time something this weird happens, I'll get a video or at least take screenshots.

I have another. One time I was 1 on 1 in the opposing zone. I was around the top right faceoff circle (from ice camera on your screen) I took a wrister and it blocks right about 3-4 feet of the defenseman just like if he stopped it with his stick. That was weird and it cost me, probably a goal.

here is a little pic to explain better:

No biggie.

But thanks for taking note of it :)

And jesse94... I've seen that before too.. I think it's the AI that makes it so players can pull in shots or deflections from anywhere in the genearl area of them... Probably your situation is more rare and extreme. But In general there is a big 'magnet' like force field that sucks in pucks in the direction of anyone.

ya, i think for 06, they really have to get a more realistic system where, if the shot is "x" distance away and is a slap shot, the puck will deflect off legs if not blocked perfectly. but if it is far away enuf, the puck should be able to be stopped. a smarter physics engine would be satisfactory

I had a 2004 glitch. My team and the CPU team each had a player just stop inside the zone and start turning. It was like they were figure skating. They didn't stop at all. Luckily the play was blew down because one of them was offside. Maybe this was shadowing for the 2005 ice girl.

Set Injuries to off and you'll see them eventually.

Actually they are not bad, and at least look human!
Compared to those ZOMBIES that EA calls fans in the stands in NHL 2005!
