EAFL Interview with EAFL Commish
![]() The EAFL is known throughout the Madden Community as one of the top leagues around. The people in charge do a lot of work on the league and plenty of marketing getting the EAFL name out there. It has such a respected name, that it sparked the interest of SportsGamer.Com. The quality of play in the EAFL is very competitive as it is home to some of the community's best players. They showed up in full force at The Players Bowl in Philadelphia recently. EAFL Member "Casper" upset the #1 madden player in the world, Problem in the 1st round. The EAFL forums will be moving over to be hosted on SportsGamer.Com in efforts to further establish itself in the Madden Community. Together, only bigger and better things are to come for both communities. We welcome the EAFL faithful with open arms and encourage the league's members to post and have a good time! I have taken some time to speak with T, aka EAFL Commish, about the EAFL so SportsGamer can be more familiar with him and the league he runs. SG: How many years have you been running EAFL? Who helps you run it? T: The EAFL just passed 3 years of gameplay. During that time we’ve ran over 80 seasons in multiple leagues and multiple platforms. PS2 and 360 have been our main focus, but for 09, we’ll only be next gen focusing on 360 and PS3. KoachK runs EAFL Europe our developmental league and EAFL-NCAA. TikiSon aka Nelly Nel runs our main 360 league. Our PS2 league has had many commissioners over 3 years, including Stopdatrain and Wingman. I also have other people who I consult with about league matters when major decisions are made, that includes da DC Bamma as he is a founding member. SG: Can you tell us something unique about the EAFL compared to other leagues on the internet? T: We have very few rules. We decides from the beginning to allow guys to play there game, while we frown upon major glitching, we pretty much allow things most leagues don’t. We try to be a no whine league, if you don’t like cheese play, don’t come here, it’s allowed. With the abundance of sim leagues out there, we offer an alternative to leagues with so many rules, you need a lawyer to interpret them for you. SG: The EAFL has a developmental 360 League, where a owner is tested out before he is introduced to the "Big Leagues" of the real EAFL league. Can you describe this process for potential members who wish to join EAFL? T: The must go to http://www.EAFLMadden.com/join and fill out a form. It gives us some brief general information before inviting them to the league. Once invited, the commish will contact them directly with next steps. Teams get assigned randomly in the order you joined the league, requests can not be granted. To play in the EAFL, you must be willing to play with any team. Loyal active members can get promoted, regardless of ability, although it doesn’t hurt for you to be competitive as well. SG: The EAFL had a strong showing at The Players Bowl in Philadelphia recently, can you elaborate on how the EAFL players in attendance did? T: We had a nice “crew” at the event. I think many of the established “crews” were not only surprised to see us with an organized presence, but also to see how competitive we were. We had two make it to the playoffs, Bamma and 2cool, Thaboyz was one game away from the playoffs, but arguably the biggest surprise was Casper upsetting Problem in their first round game. While Casper did not make the playoffs, he doesn’t believe in buying back in, we all believe he uncovered a weakness in Problem’s game, got inside his head and ultimately was the cause of Problem’s early exit. Problem’s the best in the world, but on that day, Casper was the Problem Solver. SG: The combination of SportsGamer and EAFL, what do you think this means for the Madden Community as a whole? T: Sportsgamer is a leader in providing video gaming information and a place for people to interact. The EAFL is a leader in providing the Madden Community a place to play the best competition around and also had built a solid Madden Community. We think we can help Sportsgamer re-establish a competitive gameplay base on their site, while they certainly can open us up to a new era of Madden players. We hope that in time, Sportsgamer is the go to place for information about all aspects of Madden and for competitive League gameplay, sponsored by the EAFL. Quote:
You passive-aggresively knocked the EAFL by saying that we allow glitching. Our league's rules prohibits blatant glitches that have been universally recognized at the highest levels of Madden competition. Your use of the word "glitching" is being used more subjectively than objectively in this instance. While the "sim" community continues to wallow in negativity, complain, and accuse; we're enjoying the game for what it is, and are having a great time doing it. Great interview Rush. -Good stuff T! __________________ KOACHK *EAFL CO-COMMISSIONER / EAFL-NCAA COMMISSIONER www.EAFLmadden.com EAFL RADIO: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/EAFLMadden "I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying." -Michael Jordan
