Is Dark Souls story based? Does anything really connect the two games, or can someone just jump in to DS2 without playing the first one?

You can hop into the second one, and probably enjoy it more immediately as the performance is more stable.

But speaking as someone whose only experience of the first is on PC, the mods are fun to mess around with and I'd assume there are more of them. Since it's cheaper, go with the first.

I'm betting it's the latter. Honestly DS could be played without any regard to story whatsoever. It's just as enjoyable without it.

The lore is connected. The story... not really. But the story is meh anyway. Only the lore is interesting but you can learn about it from some videos on youtube

It's hard for me to continue playing my PC version of that game. :/

I have yet to get it working to a comfortable level. Even with DSFix and all those fixing mods it's still janky as ****.

PC, PS3 and 360 gamers get to play this awesome game.

I guess I'm used to not needing to do much to make games work well. Dark Souls is probably the worst on that front out of all the games I've played. Sure there may be worse, but I've fortunately never had to deal with them.

I'm actually wondering why anyone cares about DS 2 graphics at all. It's not like the first one was all that great in that department either without mods.

Eh? The game was pimped as pc being the lead platform. Next gen in mind. With (now defunked) lighting and many promises about making up for the horrid Darksouls: PTDE.

Those where not lived. And some diet coke pc gamers choose to ignore that so they can act juvenile and boast to console gamers. Even though the game still quite clearly looks and plays like shit.

Eh, I wasn't around when they were calling it the greatest thing ever. I honestly just saw it as another okay graphics DS game that plays like the original.

Then again, I'm one of those people who couldn't give a damn even if I heard about the downgrades and stuff. I play based on what platform is most comfortable (or where the cheapest version is). If riling up the other people who do care is your thing, then go at it.

G2play and Kinguin are sites I have best experience with.

Give them a whirl. I think they're great.

Ahh Dark Souls 2 taking me on a trip down memory lane. Great game, good for hermits who will enjoy the single player experience since the community will be dead on PC.

My friend, after 14000 steam sales, this is highly doubtful.

I have seen reports of people talking to GMG support about being credited the difference.

I know a similar thing happened to me on a preorder and they gave me the $2.99 difference in GMG credit

I can get easily frustrated with games at times, so not sure Dark Souls is for me

Actually, the Ps3 version is the best.

The load times contain interesting information about the lore, so the PC version, which loads fast, makes you unable to properly read them.

It ruins the experience. The Ps3 has the longest load times, so it is by far the most fulfilling Dark Souls 2 experience, seeing as you can take your time reading all about it.
