Do you agree that Bad Company 2 was the best online multiplayer shooter to date?

Can't say they were the best, meaning both bad company games, but they were the ones i had more fun with.

Never played it. My favourite FPS online multiplayer is both Halo and Call of Duty. For TPS it’s Gears of War.

I wouldn't say the best online multi-player, but definitely in the top in terms of single player campaigns

It was definitely one of the better ones, but I think I'd take RO2/Rising Storm over it.

I never understood this, especially in BC2. Their campaigns were nothing else but a generic fps where you're killing faceless soldiers for 7h, and that's that. Hearing a few jokes from your crew doesn't change the fact that the actual gameplay is as bottom tier as it is in the yearly CoD.

Of course it is, game was selling an entire vietnam expansion for the price of a COD map pack.

The only two games where I can die over and over again and still feel like I'm having fun, like I'm learning and improving.

Also some of the few games where playing a certain role actually felt different: machine gunner, sniper, squad leader, commander, helicopter pilot, tanker...

In terms of best battlefield online game for consoles? Maybe.

My personal favorites are Halo/Halo 2/Halo 3, UT99/UT2004 and CS/CS: Source/CS:GO.

No. Section 8 was. I really enjoyed BFBC2 though.

Battlefield 2 was the best multiplayer game ever. Remember upgrading my pc to 512mb ram and upgrading to a geforce fx 5800 128mb card. Happy memories

It was extremely fun. But no. While playing BC2, and while I was having a shitload of fun, couldn't stop thinking about the even more fun I had with 2142.

And Unreal Tournament '99 was the shit.

I agree that Battlefield is the best online multiplayer, but not Bad Company 2. Bad Company 2 as good as it is, definitely falls short of other great entries in the series.

I think bc2 had an amazing campaign though, went through it like 3 times.

It was the best to feature destructible environments and immersive audio. I still go back to it sometimes just to fire some of the weapons lol

Yeah I remember. I sinked hundreds of hours in it, but then came the magnificent Vietnam expansion and sinked another hundred of hours lol Best destructibility in an online multiplayer to date. No modern game managed to beat it.

It's definitely up there. After taking a break from gaming for many years, this was one of the games I returned to in 2010 and I was blown away. The maps were also so good. It might not be my number one but it's definitely in my top 3 or top 5

Not only is it not anywhere close to being the best MP FPS, it's not even the best BF game.

I haven't been big into competitive online MP since 7th gen and the Battlefield games. BFBC2 really was the peak of those games then.

Man I loved that environmental destruction. Sometimes I'd run into building with bunch of guys upstairs and plant explosives around the walls and run out and detonate, force the building to collapse with guys inside.

one thing I wish other class-based FPS like BF took from those games, is limiting roles, especially snipers. imagine playing BF with just a few snipers per team instead of entire sniper squads hanging out on rooftops, screwing over their team and making things miserable for the other team.

Sometimes less is more. DICE limiting weapon availability could allow for some more outliers.

As a matter of fact, they had weapon pickups in BF V, BF 1 and Battlefront 1. So they're not opposed to the idea.

I played UT. Good for its time, but comparing it to BC2 as "fun factor" is ridiculous.

**** no. It wasn't even the best Battlefield game. It was good, destruction was nice, but it was more of a Rush mode game, Conquest wise other games in the series, both old (2142 and 2) and newer (3, Battlefield 1, when they fucking fixed it 4) were more enjoyable. And I associate Battlefield more so with Conquest than anything else.

And then as far as other shooters, it's not as deep as arena shooters (Quake, Unreal), it's outclassed by better tac shooters (Counter Strike, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant). It was a much better game than CoD ever was multiplayer wise, and it was probably better than Halo Reach was that year, tho that's probably worth arguing. But even for a console shooter crowd I think Halo's best outings (2 and 3) clear it.

Battlefield as a series is pretty fun, as a sick sandbox n spectacle, but it never satiates the competitive itch that the best in the genre do for me.

The PC version - the console versions were garbage.

Halo Infinite is the top standard these days nobody talk about BF anywhere and do not know the next game coming - nobody care.

I like it more than Battlefield 3.

Be stuff like Quake 3 and RTCW.

It was pretty great, and I'd love to see DICE/EA get back to their roots in that regard. Tired of the "epic" setting and stuff, tired of the emphasis on historical...just give us a solid shooter.

BF2 is still the best, though.

Maybe BF4 after that (or am I thinking of 3? I always get those two confused). But BC2 is up there!

Q3 wasn't my cup of tea, but it did what it aimed to do very, very well.

The talent went to form their own studio (Embark), which is why I am looking forward to The Finals.

The emergent gameplay possibilities that come from the destruction and other things looks great.

I played it and it was probably 40% of what battlefield 3 was. Bf3,4 and 1 were much better. But it did at that time offer something different and was fun. I will say that I would have more fun playing it than bf2042, mw or mw2.
